Went against my own ranking for just this round because I like Lipinski's overall game. I think he projects to be a solid checking line center with a bit of offense thrown in. I'm going for a goalie after this round, likely Sergeev because I like his overall skillset and size.

Morton is the most experienced and showed very well after his callup last year! He may be the biggest surprise this year!

It's a toss up for me here, Kuznetsov, Jurmo, Zarubin, Lipinski, Hurtig or Morton. Going Zarubin to support our scouts decision to pick him in the 3rd round. Crazy Russian Junior season for him.

It is pretty good that we are at 19 here and still some names I like.
Lipinski, Kuznetsov, Morton, Hurtig, Jurmo...and then Zarubin/Sergeev/Yegorov are all lottery tickets too

Parker Bell. I remember him looking really good, though he seemed to not progress last year in junior, which is a red flag when a poster is healthy. Great skater with great size from what I remember.
It was either him or Lipinski. Seems everyone is higher on Lipinski. I thought Lipinski was a terrible pick when it was made, but I was really impressed by him too last season at camp, made a bit of progression last season and led his team in scoring, plus is a centre. Is it too late to change my vote to Lipinski? lol I will stick with Bell, for better or worse.

Went Kuznetsov, I'm surprised Kerins name never gets mentioned though. I could honeslty see him leading the AHL team in points this year
21-22: 118 points in 67 games (OHL)
22-23: 37 points in 38 games (ECHL)
23-24: 32 points in 54 games (AHL)
And this will be his 22 year old season. He's had steady improvement every year, I would not be shocked if he plays games with the big club this year either

That’s true, but Morton who is 3 years older and scored at a lower PPG in a smaller sample size is getting some love here. Kerins had a really solid season this year and I don’t think people know about it

Yeah I'm not understanding the Morton love. He's 25, and his pro career consists of 11 points in 19 games.

I'm going Jurmo until he's picked. Huge, good skating d-men will almost always find a way into the NHL. May not have a high ceiling but he probably also has a low floor.

It's a really small sample size, but the couple of times I watched him live, he really stood out. The Kerins story is really good though. Starts out in the ECHL, and if keeps progressing in each league as he has, that would be impressive.

Could Kerins get a top 6 centre opportunity this year? I was really high on him when he had that big OHL season but have kinda forgotten as it’s taken longer for him to transition to the pro level. 22 is still pretty young if he can take the next step but I seem to recall posters saying he didn’t have the size/strength and speed needed.
Scorp projected him to play 3rd line LW in the Back Burner forum.

After seeing him play, and speaking to him overseas, Sigalet glowed about Ignatjew’s aura - a calming presence and cool-under-pressure mentality that saw him named the Swedish Allsvenskan’s Goaltender of the Year, and a finalist for league MVP.

I am of the (admittedly unpopular opinion) that Wolf is too small for the NHL, and that Vladar isn't going to be able to stand up to the rigors of a #1 role.
6'3" 200lbs. This guy could be a diamond in the rough.

Not trying to change your opinion but heres a gteat article going over Saros, and everything said in the article can apply to Wolf. Making it this far in his career is a very positive indicator of future success.
Quote:
They know they have to prove themselves more than those with the ideal height. This can be advantageous, leading to good habits, precise movements and competitiveness from a young age.
"Big goalies, when they're younger, they don't have to perfect these things," Woodley said. "They get away with more. Pucks just hit them. They didn't have to refine their technique to the degree that a guy like Saros would have had to in order to continue to move up levels as the smallest guy."
|
Quote:
"I'd say the disadvantage that the small guys have is proving their value over time and getting a lot of games in to prove that they can do it. They need to earn that trust that they can play at that size. That's a big key—proving it to the American League coach. And then when they go up [to the NHL], they do well enough, and then they go back down, and they continue to have success."
