I just cannot escape a Laine trade. The Jackets want to move him, he wants to move and we've been poking around.
Eat all his salary and get a nice add on. It's exactly what weaponizing this cap space is about.
KJ or Sillinger are excellent add ons

Here’s a funny thing…I misread the title and thought that flames traded fabbri…and I was like…when did we sign him to trade him?

Conroy to Murray probably: Don't worry about not getting 5M in playoff revenue to keep the team in the black in a rebuild.

Jackets won't have to attach KJ or Sillinger to Laine to get rid of him. I bet the Habs would take him 25% retained for future considerations.

For sure. I'd be fine if the Flames took him at full hit and a mid round pick to see if he can rebound

I can’t see the Flames taking on Laine after Mantha was signed to fill the same role on the roster.

Flames will need to be dollar in and dollar out on the cap if they plan on trading anyone else. A contract like Laine’s will give them flexibility and Mantha will be gone by the deadline.

There is still a lot of time to weaponize it. There are lots of little 'windows' from now until the trade deadline to use some of that space.

It seems really weird to be saying that when it's the floor that is the problem. All these years it's been the opposite.

lol right. Have the Flames ever been this close to the floor? I can’t remember what they looked like cap wise in their last run of high picks.

There was a year during the post-Iginla era when the Flames had the most cap space in the league as well. And Feaster, in typical Feaster fashion, talked a big game about how he was going to weaponize it, but ended up doing sweet F all.
