Default Janmark re-signs in Edmonton

3 years - 4.35 million total. Where are they getting the money? Kane and Ceci must be gone.

Not a bad deal for a checking forward who actually had a decent playoff series.

That's only 1.5 millionish, they can surely fit that under the cap.

Actually I just Armchair GM'd it and they're down to $558k with a 21 man roster... Yikes. I spoke too soon.

They absolutely have to trade someone, maybe two someones.

They could probably trade Arvidsson if they retain 50%.

The same day they signed him?

That would be the shortest time anybody has ever been an Edmonton Oiler. The guy should get a banner for that.

Trading McLeod doesn't help, he only makes 2.1 and they'd have to fill his spot. Even if they bring up a 1M guy that doesn't save them enough cash.

Then you're not using it right.

Use the Armchair GM tool and create a roster. See how much cap is left over. If you're just clicking "edmonton oilers" it won't give you the right number because the guys on their roster in the summer do not amount to an opening night lineup.

Why? Capfriendly has done it for you with their current contracts.

I wasn't.

Kane / McD / Hyman
RNH / Drai / Arvidsson
Skinner / McLeod / Perry
Janmark / Ryan / Connor
Nurse / Bouchard
Ekholm / Ceci
Kulak / Brown
Carrick
Skinner / Pickard

That's 21 guys with a cap hit of $87,441,667 including carryover bonuses, dead cap etc... 558k left.
