Seems pretty high to me. I like the player but I’d tag him around 6 mil tops. But good for him he’s an underrated player.

That goal in game 7 no doubt earned him some extra money.

He was clutch for the Panthers. Well deserved.

I think this is where cap growth hits us.

$6M players aren’t 70 point guys anymore, and that’s what Verhaeghe is. Back to back 70+ point seasons + strong (Stanley Cup winning) performances?

The 6 year term is also not the typical 8 years you’d see on a player like this. This deal takes him to 35 (I think), that makes this relatively low risk as there shouldn’t be any “dead years” on the back end.

Difficult one because he is always money in the playoffs.
But his regular season numbers are just decent. He's a bit like Bennett in that way.

Can't say he didn't earn it. He's one of the most clutch playoff goal scorers in NHL history

I used to be about $1 mil per 10 points, now it is trending to be $1 mil per 7 or 8 points..

10 GWGs in the playoffs probably adds a bit of a premium too. Half of those were in OT too.

I was expecting this to start with a 7 but a cup win will do that.

He's a very clutch player. Probably 1.5 overpaid but who cares, he's a champ.

Kind of wonder with that kind of cap hit what that means for Sam Reinhart and Montour, and to a lesser extent, Lundell.

I think it means they're putting Ekblad on the market, if he wasn't already.

I think Verhaeghe is an amazing 2nd line winger, and obviously contributes on the powerplay.

This looks steep on first glance but I think this deal looks just fine for a while.

All depends who else they keep (Reinhart?)

Yeesh. Higher than I expected, but you’re paying for his playoff production I suppose.

Only six years. That's the win here for the panthers.

The player agents have an easy job nowadays. They just compare their player to Huberdeau.

At first blush, sounds like a lot. But salaries are going to skyrocket over the next couple years, after being held down since Covid.

Kadri's $7M is already looking good. Weegar's $6.25M is a huge bargain. And Andersson at $4.55M is worth a truckload of gold.

The next 25 months are going to be a wild ride for Flames fans!
