It's probably because his jersey is hanging in FLC (or whatever corporate name it's called now) for the same team I played for growing up - Bow Valley Flames - but I'd like to see him wear the flaming C at least at some point before he hangs them up.

But I know it's a bit of a wild ride with him, especially in recent seasons, so it's probably best on a cheap, right before he retires sort of deal.

No, he was really solid last year and 3 years ago. 2022-2023 he was garbage. 4 years ago he was straight trash. He seems to be one of those up and down guys where up is "solid" and down is a disaster.

But... eh. It's 3M and he's right handed so... I really don't know on this one. You can get away with a 3M guy on your third pairing. I actually did expect them to have to pay him about 500k more than this.

I thought most were pegging him around 3.7 - and I believe it was DGB who said Demelo was a comparable player and just signed for 4.9. The inconsistency and the age are probably definitely a concern, but as RHS he might have gotten more on the market.

He is a good defender if he isn't put into a position to fail. The Canucks for the longest time were playing him as a top pairing defenseman and he isn't good enough for that. As a 4/5 defenseman he is more than adequate though.
