I think this is a great addition for San Jose. With Celebrini + Smith .. Goodrow will be an excellent 3rd line center.

Feel like I wouldn't have picked up this contract without a sweetener but I guess SJ sees him as a fan favorite.

Someone needs to teach the kids how to win, they're not likely to be that good over the life of the contract, and they need to make the cap floor.

May have been also a way to bypass his 15 team NTC. NY Post suggested yesterday that the Rangers putting him on waivers was a prearranged deal with the Sharks.

He was superb in SJ as a depth guy that wouldn't back down. Solid piece to have around Mac.

Goodrow lack of value is an overreaction to 1 bad year. Good move by SJ

Wow, tough deal for ole Barclay.

From first to worst in the blink of an eye.

He was probably hoping for a buy out, then he could at least pick his next team. I'm sure many would have had tons of interest at a lower cap hit.

Maybe we should throw Huberdeau on waivers and see if there are any takers

Great pick up by the Sharks. They can now trade him on trade deadline in 2025 to get more assets. I always liked Goodrow since he provides a lot of grit in the playoffs.

Can you even waive a player with NMC?

No and Yes - Normally, the contract cannot be waived with NMC or NTC or a modified NMC/NTC. However, if the player agreed to waiving the NMC/NTC, then yes. No team would be stupid enough to pick up Hube's contract for next 6-7 years unless if they think he is what the team needs to fill a hole and Hube is that person to do it.

If I was the GM, I'd definitely ask Huberdeau if he can waive his NMC and then put him out on a waiver and see what'll happen

Which Goodrow would have done thinking that he would be bought out and free to choose his next destination.

hypothetically, if the Panthers or Oilers claimed him, could he have play for the Cup?

I think waivers after the trade deadline just apply to next season?

Sounds like Barclays is not happy. Drury screwed him and he did not want to go to San Jose.
