Childhood vs adulthood.
Hypothetical question, you have two choices.
Choice one: You can remain in the status quo, life goes in as it currently is.
Choice two: You go back to your childhood, you start as an infant in the same decade you grew up in, you have the same family members, you will meet the same people that come into your life, you do not have any prior knowledge of the current timeline you just left. That means you can't go back and eventually know what stocks are going to hit or any other financial advantage.
Which do you choose and why?

If I have no prior knowledge I will do the same dumb shyte I did the first time so I may as well stay where I am. On the other hand, a wee bit of common sense would make a rerun worth while.

Clarification required: the second scenario you say "you do not have any prior knowledge of the current timeline you just left". Does that mean you are completely unaware that you had lived X years before hitting the reset button? If that's the case it seems pointless, because then all you're really asking is "would you want to relive your childhood, exactly as it was before, as it unfolded before"?

Status Quo. My life has been okay, but the thought of re-living it all is exhausting!

Was definitely a slow maturer.
A lot lot lot of trial and error to get to this point and shake off the terrible self beliefs that my dysfunctional young family life saddled me with early on.
I'd kill to roll it back just 5 years with this knowledge, but it's better to accept your present and not live looking in reverse.
Everything is unfolding how it's supposed to.. couldn't happen any other way because we didn't know better at the time.

Maybe not having knowledge from your future self, but the wisdom I've earned about decision making etc would definitely be a powerful force.
Yeah in the OP scenario literally nothing would change, so whats the point?

No way in Hell I'd do that crap again. I'm not even much of a fan of being an Adult.

Yeah, the way I'm understanding the scenario, if someone experienced some very unpleasant things growing up, they'd opt to not do it again, but if the person had an overall very good experience with some very out of the ordinary experiences, perhaps they'd be down to live it all over again just to re-experience those things.

Yeah I'm good on status quo too. I'd like to go back and change a couple decisions in my 18-25 years (but who wouldn't?), aside from that I'm good. I've always been kind of an old soul anyway, being in my early 40s feels right.

Why would you want to relive your past in the exact the same way when you end up being miserable when you grow up?

Status quo easily in this case, if there was even a small advantage of rolling the clock back then that would be my choice. Even though my childhood was far from the worst there’s a few things I really don’t want to relive, ditto from 19-25. I’m way more invested in being a good dad for my son than anything else right now and that’s making my 30s a far better era for me than any decade prior.

There's no point in going back if you're unable to correct even just one mistake. I would just be torturing myself again.
