Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2024 - Round 14
Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...
1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to mid to late August
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Gotta go Misa here. Never should’ve dropped to 150, and he was electric in the development game.

For some reason I find it fascinating that none of our remaining goalie prospects are receiving even a single vote combined all the way into round 14.
I guess it's hard to get a good read on Russian goalies, although Sergeev plays in US college.
Chechelev is basically a non prospect at this point, Yegorov was a 7th rounder and plays in Russia, but I figured we'd start to see some votes for Sergeev or Zarubin by now.

Honestly, the pool is just ridiculously deep right now. Knowing that a current second rounder may fall to 15 or lower is pretty amazing. We are 20 deep of A-B prospects.

Sergeev has dropped off by not securing the clear number one status at Connecticut in two seasons. He's not completely done, but he'll need strong campaign at Penn State.
Zarubin should be making an appearance in the ranking soon simply by virtue of his recency and draft position.

Toss up between Batagglia, Misa, Solo and Suniev, wanted to go Solo but went Batagglia. Just cause.

Parekh
A level (High likelihood of NHL career, possibility of being a star player)

Current pick in bold. I think Suniev will be a bit of a sniper at the NHL level.

Battaglia for me. Solid skater, physical and goes to the tough areas, and has really nice soft hands. I think he has the ability to be the 3rd guy on a top-line. That complimentary piece to a pair. Some good examples are guys like Ferland. Soft enough hands to play with skilled players, but really excels on the forecheck and the greasy areas.
After the coaching change on his junior team, he finally got to play with decent players and was given a decent opportunity, and basically matched Sennecke' progress rocketing up the charts. Not saying he is as good, but there is definitely something here, and I think there is enough here to become a bit of a game-breaker at times.

Crazy that Suniev and Battaglia are still on the board at 14.
(not that I think any of the prior votes are wrong, just crazy how much depth there is)

I’m still in shock at the haul we got in this year’s draft. Our first two rounds were great, then we pick up Mews AND Misa? Incredible.

Suniev was voted 8th best prospect in last year's poll. Him falling to Round 14 or 15 is crazy and has nothing to do with his play. Only Stromgren is ranked higher this year, just shows how many new, quality prospects the team has acquired in the past 12 months.

There are some higher ceiling options but the road looks long for the likes of Suniev, Mews and Bataglia. Going Klapka as he seems quite close and has an intriguing skill set.

Solovyov yet again. Looks like I’ll be voting for him a couple of rounds.
Suniev and Battaglia would likely have been my next two picks.

4 players remaining on the list have had already played at least 1 game in the NHL. All 4 are likely to be available at 15

Going klapka. Big =good. Pretty good skater. Good numbers in the A. Didnt look out if place when he was brought up. Could easily be a middle six winger and is close.

Mews off the board.
Yet Battaglia was higher ranked by our scouting staff and went before Mews.
Obvious choice for me here.
