Ugh....name of the store escapes me atm but there is that dice game store in Chinook near the movie theater? Failing that, there is a place called Metal Galaxy in the same complex the "new" Back Alley is in? Strikes me as a place that may have it?
Really guessing here, not something I'd typically keep an eye out for.

There is a store in Dragon city mall downtown which stocks plenty of Gundam supplies, as well as PM hobby on 32nd, their supply is actually pretty large as well carrying beginner up to Perfect Grade models.
Also https://www.canadiangundam.com/ is reliable for getting stuff through and often at a discount.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'll call around today or tomorrow, see who is still open and has a sufficiently easy models to start with.

I ended up getting ahold of this place and they were great. Pointed me in the right direction, easy curb side pick up and so far my son lives building the model. Most likely will end up hitting them up again for a other model to build eventuality.

Yeah they are a great little store. I found them for board games, free rentals on Wednesdays, but they were always friendly and helpful.

There's a Japanese shop by T&T in the NE, kind of like a Japanese Walmart? Anyway they have a bunch of Gundam stuff.
There's also a claw machine store in Sunridge mall and they have a bunch of it too.
In case anyone cares 4 years later.

That would be Oomomo, or Canadian franchisee of Daiso. There are also a couple of shops that sell them at New Horizon mall, 2nd floor of Dragon City in Chinatown, and a shop in North Hill shopping centre.
