I know there was a thread on this a while back but I thought I'd post some results.

I got it done about a week ago here in Calgary. So far the results have been mixed. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any healing experience? It seems my left eye has healed a little quicker than my right one. They say it's normal and it can take up to a month for your eyes to adjust properly, but still it's not cool to have my eyes playing tricks on me.

Anyway, the procedure was quick and painless for the most part, a little weird. In total it set me back about $1800CAN, but that is with a year of insurance plus my prescription was pretty bad.

Just wondering what others think of the procedure and if anyone else has gone through with it?

I looked into it but got scared by some of the side effects I read about. My prescription is not bad and I don't really mind wearing glasses so I decided against it. Then again - I'm a big coward.

I was driving and drinking beer the night I got it done.

I had no issues what-so-ever.

My daughter had laser eye surgery in 1996 and her eyesight is 20/20 today.

She was told that everyone heals at a different rate, depending on many factors.
She experienced a rapid healing response in both eyes that was controlled by taking special eyedrops.

She believes that the main cause of her good results was in following her doctors orders as closely as possible, particularly in regards to the eyedrops.

I have been looking into it for a few months now. My perscription isn't TERRIBLE, but my contacts are a hassle. May I ask where you got it done and who your doctor was? I might just go in for a consultation.

To you guys who mentioned your prescriptions, what are they? Deelow, what do you consider "bad"?

I'm -3.75/-4.

I'm looking forward to getting the surgery done, but it'll be years yet before I can get it done. I think you have to be 25 or something and I'm only 18. Oh well.

I'm 24 but my eyes haven't really changed in 3 or 4 years so I went ahead with it. We'll see.

I was a -5.75/-6.25..I was on the verge of having to go with a different procedure. The clinic is Lasik MD http://www.lasikmd.ca/calgary_home.html. The consultation was quite extensive, they did a lot of tests, it took close to 3 hours. I will keep you posted on the results. Staring at a 15" computer montor at 1AM probably isn't helping.

I wonder if a cist in/on the eye will disqualify me from having the procedure done. Deelow, was the consultation free? Probably not, but I'm hoping, haha.

My daughter's laser eye surgery was performed by Dr. Howard Gimbel. Her eyesight, prior to surgery, she believes was -4.5/-4.5.

Yes it was...plus I even got a cookie. They'll tell you every thing you need to know. You just need to give up 2 or 3 hours.
