What’s going on in the Pacific Division: Oilers still surging, Flames have won four straight, and more!
Although the Flames may be sellers at this season’s deadline, don’t exclude them from making a push at the playoff. Since we last looked of the protagonist of the story, they’ve won their last four games.
“The Texas Tiger” Blake Coleman has been nothing short of phenomenal this season, reaching 20 goals for the third time in his career on Tuesday
Calgary Flames Nazem Kadri is playing his best hockey of the season just in time for his former Toronto Maple Leafs to come calling
With his former team — and hometown club — hitting the Stampede City, Nazem Kadri is rolling.
While a few other Calgary Flames skaters have been stepping into the limelight — Blake Coleman, Yegor Sharangovich, etc. — Kadri has quietly racked up five goals and 10 points in a season-best seven-game point streak.
On 4-game win streak, Flames out to extend Leafs' skid
Toronto has lost three consecutive games in regulation for the first time since October 2021.
"Obviously (we're ticked) off about it, but all these games we've been playing, we've played some really good hockey," forward Mitchell Marner said. "We've just given them back. We've had a lot of chances to extend leads in games and haven't done a good job of that."
Say What - 'Just Go And Play'
Vladar on starting games on short notice:
"Sometimes, it just makes your life a little bit easier, you just kind of take it as it is, you don’t have time to think, you just go and play. It’s nice to know your schedule, but at the same time, when stuff like that happens, you’ve just got to be there and do your best to help the team."
See ya'll next month, off to Florida again. Tsawwassen and hwy19man will do their usual brilliant GDTs!! Stay warm!

Leafs are nothing but a paper tiger.
Only 7 teams have fewer regulation wins.
Some think they are a great team. No. They have some good players, great players actually, but they are not a great team.
Hopefully the Flames can send them to Vancouver with their 5th straight loss and chaos ensues in that fan base and on media.
Effin hate the Leafs.

No idea what to make of this one. Leafs have firepower and are coming off another blown lead, this time against the Oilers.
They do not however, under normal circumstances, have a good D core. That said they have Giordano and Brodie who may still for whatever reason, want to turn it up against the Flames.
They also have sub par goaltending, except Martin Jones has a good career record against the Flames.
But we have Yegor & Goalman so I'll give this to the Flames.

The Leafs are 5-7-2 since Dec 19th. Their 5 wins were against:
CBJ, LAK, ANA, SJS, SJS (while the Kings were in free fall)
While the Leafs are struggling, the Flames have been playing very well lately. Unfortunately however, the hockey gods hate us, so I am assuming terrible reffing, terrible luck, and maximum disappointment. And a Gordie Howe hattrick from Mr Giordano.

Blake Coleman is the type of player I think should be kept as long as possible. Some guys just know how to play effectively.

Half of the Leafs' roster is on LTIR. I wonder how many of those players will be ready to return to the ice on the first day of the playoffs.
Makes me wonder why the Flames didn't put Monahan on LTIR rather than trading away a 1st to get rid of 1 year of his salary.

Hoping for a big Flames win because it's always fun beating the Leafs and in this case would also turn up the pressure on Treliving to make a move. The more desperate GM's the better over the next month.

It could also be the end of Sheldon Keefe. Could you imagine if they missed the playoffs, after giving Willy all that money?

Murray and Klingberg just had hip surgery, Muzzin hasnt played in essentially 2 seasons.
Woll and Reaves are the only guys coming back this year, there is no help coming from their IR list.
No idea how they address the holes on D and in net with the shape they are in cap wise.

So are we throwing our young goalie to the wolves this game? And would he feel right at home in that scenario?
Have fun in FLA cheese!

Don’t think the Flames would beat the Leafs 2-9 tonight (birthday) so I’ll take a combined score of 11 and say we win 6-5

TJ Brodie not having a great time. UFA at the end of this season - does Brad re-sign him?

Anyone else find it weird that Gio & Brodie were a top pair here for so long yet they haven't once (to the best of my knowledge) been a pair for the Leafs?

Brad wanted to keep Hamonic here ahead of Brodie.
He attempted trading him for Kadri.
He waited until the last minute to offer him a contract so he could sign Markstrom.
Something tells me that Tre isn't a huge Brodie fan. I doubt Brodie re-signs in TOR.

It is weird. I assume it’s because neither of them have been all that great on their own (especially this season), so the coaches are worried about putting them together and having two struggling defencemen out at the same time.

If the Leafs get an early lead in this one, we know they'll blow it. So that's good news.
Also the Flames are playing some good hockey right now and have a bit of swagger to them, while the Leafs are in a tailspin. I think we'll win this one.
