Good. Don’t need that kind of thing in the game.

Detroit tried to argue that wasn't a hit directly to the head? Jesus.

Yes, and that Zub had nothing to do with it.

If that was Evander Kane, Parros would have given him a basket of scratch tickets.

I remember when Dave Brown got 15 games for doing the same thing to Thomas Sandstrom of the Rangers. Hard to believe the suspensions have gotten lighter since back in the day. Glad they at least gave 6 games in today's wheel of suspensions.

Woah....WTF happened? Zub is clearly trying to get the attention of the refs to stop play because theres an injured player on the ice and Perron just cleans him out?

Wow. I think 6 games is pretty light.

Zub was acting as though play should already have stopped.

Somehow, when he was creating all the chaos in his life that ended with the Sharks contract being terminated, Kane recorded something so incriminating for league higher-ups that he was allowed to just restart his career in Edmonton, right after doing things worthy of ending a contract without penalty to San Jose, and subsequently have carte blanche to cheap shot without fear of any repercussions.

Or maybe he and Parros are poker buddies?

I imagine Perron feels awful after seeing the replay. Zub was in the wrong place at the wrong time when Perron turned around.

Thought it was a little ridiculous that Bieksa was justifying the hit by Perron.

It boggles my mind how anyone defends Perron. His teammate is injured, so he commits assault with weapon against someone who is calling for help?

Dave Brown was suspended for 15 games because he was a repeat offender, specifically with respect to cross-checking Tomas Sandstrom in the head.

You're forgetting that Brown was suspended five games in March of '87 for cross-checking Sandstrom in the head after Sandstrom slew-footed Mark Howe into the boards. He got 15 for cross-checking Sandstrom in the head after Sandstrom was hacking at the puck while Ron Hextall was trying to cover it in a game in October of '87. It was a case of not only doing the same thing repeatedly, but to the same guy repeatedly, and that's why they came down hard. Perron by contrast had only been suspended once in his career.

EDIT: oh and another thing: Brown's 15-game stint was non-consecutive. He sat 13 games straight, plus the following two games against the Rangers weeks later.

Are any other full contact sports as stupid as hockey when it comes to this stuff? Retaliation in general, but specifically in immediate proximity to an unconscious player?

It's probably happened in rugby/football, but it's embarrassingly common in hockey. Hell, seconds after this incident another Red Wing nearly lost his footing going out of his way to push a Sens player who was 'standing guard' to make sure nothing dumb happened.

Weird play but he sort of got sandwiched between two guys at a bad angle and was KO'd.

He was put on IR today.....likely concussion.
