Prices are too high for Leafs right now
Dreger: Would the leafs give up a 2nd round pick for Tanev? Sure but they don't have a 2nd round pick to give
Flyers could command a 1st round pick for Sean Walker
LeBrun: Flames have gotten calls on DeAngelo and Barrie in the last little while to fill Zadorov's spot.
In no rush to move Tanev.
Nashville won't retain on Barrie (want to make a hockey trade). Market is soft on DeAngelo

Ugh. Not interested in either DeAngelo or Barrie. I'd rather suffer developing some younger players.

Huge pass on DeAngelo. Ditto for Barrie.
Hope Conroy holds onto the rest of the UFAs for a while if the prices are junk. No rush all, besides the chance of an injury.

Is that a typo, or are the flames legitimately looking at Barrie and/,or DeAngelo? Makes no sense to me if it's the latter.

Carolina is almost certainly looking to offload DeAngelo. Not as sure about Barrie though.

Sure.
But the flames?
Typing says the flames have gotten calls on DeAngelo and Barrie.
Truly the flames aren't inquiring about these guys? And if it means teams are calling us, truly we aren't taking that junk?
Or a typo that has nothing at all to do with the flames?

If the Flames are rebuilding they would take on teams bad contracts for picks.
Plus if Tanev and Hanifin are gone the defence here is looking thin. Might need some bodies.

It would be funny if the cap saving that Conroy bragged about from the zadorov deal is spent on Barrie or DeAngelo
Unless some pretty good picks come along with them

What is this team doing looking at "now" players?
They're 2 games under .500 in december, this team hasn't shown that it's a move or two away from anything.
They started moving things the right way by dealing Zadorov. Turning around and replacing him with a veteran schmuck seems very counter-productive.
Collect assets, and continue the youth movement. It will work out better than deals for other team's B players.
Savard should focus on creating a competent PP with the players he already has. There are enough tools there to make an average PP. Trying to use outside help like Barrie to fix it will not work when the whole blueprint sucks to begin with.

Flames bring him in to make the idea of everyone wanting out easier to swallow, and thus commences a full-on selloff.
4-D chess move by Conroy to jumpstart the rebuild.

That is how LeBrun worded it. He made it sound like Canes and Nashville called Calgary to see if they were interested. Not that the Flames were the ones initiating.

At this point, I would rather not get any older players in return. Let's just rebuild

DeAngelo would certainly intensify the mass exodus.
