Champions League Hockey

Watching Belfast at Lukko in the CHL. Two things stick out, two minute powerplays last the full two minutes, regardless of goals scored. Secondly, what advertising hell is this?

NHL will 100% look like that within the decade. Once the advertisement train starts up, it ain't slowing down.

Regarding Champions league hockey in general. I think the NHL will follow a similar model to the NBA. Essentially stay out of the Euro/Champions league, and invite the winners/finalists to face NHL teams in a couple of preseason games.
It used to be a huge deal when your countries best team would face an NBA team, I'm not sure it's as big now. However it was all over the Israeli news when Maccabi Tel Aviv won against the Raptors in the 2005 preseason.
As for your topic, I didn't know they implemented that rule. I thought this was discussed as well as that scoring a short handed goal would negate a PP. I don't remember which league it was supposed to happen in. Could well be in the champions league.

Weird rules part 2: If the shorthanded team scores, the powerplay is over.
Belfast just went 1-0 up.

Maybe Fleury can get his number retired by Belfast?

So power play continues if you score but ends if you’re scored against?
That’s some BS right there.
Edit: as I think about it more, maybe it’s actually interesting.

Yes, they announced it a couple of days ago: A minor penalty doesn't end if a PP goal is scored, but it does end if a SH goal is scored. Also, if a goal is scored when there is a delayed penalty, the penalty must still be served (which is really just the same as the PP goal rule change).

I like this rule. It makes sense intuitively.

Absolutely. #### or get off the pot. Any way to have less time played on special teams is a win.

Empty netter at the end to mail ke it 3-1.
It was a good performance by the Giants against the Finnish team.
I’m looking forward to catching a few Giants games this season when visiting my son in Belfast.

i love that rule, i wish the NHL would implement it. It would get the shorthanded team to take more chances and the powerplay team can counter, 4 on 2s!
