Can We Organize A Hu-Ber-Deau Chant?
I could have put this in the Huberdeau thread, but I wanted to increase visibility.
Obviously none of us know what to do about the Huberdeau situation. But here's an idea.
For the fans going to the next home game, can we organize a "Hu-Ber-Deau" chant?
Sure he doesn't deserve it, but you never know, maybe a chant of encouragement wakes him up? Like something as loud as a "Go Flames Go" style chant?
Of course if it doesn't, it will inevitably devolve into a Bronx cheer. Which is a risk I think we have to take.
Thoughts?

How about "Huber-go"?
Get rid of him.

I'm all for it, I get the cynical posts so far but the guy isn't going anywhere, hasn't shown a poor attitude, so might as well throw some support behind him and see if it sparks anything. It's desperate, but what else do you think we can do got

It's almost as if nobody here has gone through a tough time - mentally especially - and thinks that money somehow softens that. It does, but only in the long run, not at the time.
The guy needs confidence and needs to know he's appreciated; struggles be damned! Yes, we'd like to see more, but maybe this is a place fans CAN actually make a difference...and wouldn't that be a fantastic result?
Personally, I feel really bad for the guy - he's in the centre of a maelstrom that is not of his own making, and yes, he signed the big contract, and yes, he could "retire"...although it's unlikely. So we are stuck with him and he with us (unless that mythical Johnny-for-Jonathan trade somehow materializes).
Nothing to lose by cheering the guy on - same as we'd do for our children playing when we know that he/she is nowhere near the best on the team.

Probably better just to stop supporting the team with your wallet till management gets the hint and delivers a product worth your dollars. Constantly holding off on rebuilds by draft and terrible Ufa and long term contracts have killed this team. Dreaming of a 04 style 6th place cup run anything can happen once you get in mindset is not a good plan.

Not of his own making?
He’s playing at a level with suggests he’s one of the worse players in the league, yet somehow he’s not accountable for any of it?
Are you suggesting someone in Edmonton is sticking needles in a Huberdeau puppet?

He's accountable for it all right.
But do tell, what good does kicking a guy when he's down actually accomplish? (Other than making you feel righteous?)

While I don’t think any human being should be mentally tortured, booing is part of the game. Seems like the organization is working with the guy to tippy toe around his issue, but when you’re making $10M and not performing, why shouldn’t you get booed? He can walk away from his contract if he doesn’t like it and still never have to work a day in his life. I’m good with the booing. If you sign a big contract you should live up to it. End of story. I think he can wipe his tears with those $100 bills he’s earning per hour.

Wasn't something like this done with Trea Turner in Philadelphia (Phillies)? Signed a huge contract, was off to a poor start, a fan posted a video about fans cheering him on instead of jeering him, and it seemed to help turn his season around?
I may be off on what exactly took place, but I read this somewhere. The situation seems a bit similar.

I think that is correct regarding Turner.

I like this.
Taking the toxic fan route is easy. It's what Edmonton and Vancouver would do in this situation. This idea is way better though, and there's always a chance it could help.
Piling on the struggling player more probably won't make a difference. I think we're past the point where more negative feedback will help anything.

agreed, if he is that mentally weak, thats on him. As a Canadian market, Calgary is not that hard on the players. If he was playing in Montreal or Toronto, they would destroy him.

He certainly doesn't deserve a chant in the hopes of getting him going. That kind of thing is earned with selfless, inspired play. All of which are within his grasp if he chose to really morph himself into a tireless heart and soul guy, since you know, he can't do anything else anymore.

It probably would be better to support the guy, since he isn't going anywhere. I think in a way it worked with Lucic. Guy knew he was an anchor with that contract and the crowds supported him still.

If you guys are as pro-mental health as you've shown in other threads then it would make sense that you support this as well.
Making exceptions to act ruthlessly because it's pro sports and guys are paid good money doesn't mean mental difficulties don't exist. In some cases they're probably exacerbated.
I don't think the lack of effort/assertion some perceive is the result of a guy that stopped caring, but a player who's lost trust in his own abilities. If you've ever been there, you know that low confidence usually translates to low energy and poorer decisions than you know you're capable of.
