Default How bad is this years Flames? $8 tickets bad

https://gametime.co/nhl-hockey/stars...b111000144344b

Just took a quick look at gametime for some last minute tickets and I was floored at how the price has just bottomed out, I know it's a Wednesday night game but even SAIT Trojans tickets are $10

Time to rebuild and give something to the fans they can be excited about.

There’s $3 press level seats on there now too. For me it’s not really a price thing, it’s more that it’s tough to justify the time commitment. I can stay at home, have more free time to myself, and if things are going south I can turn it off and do something else.

Going down to the game you’re stuck there. And you’re probably investing an extra two hours of your time by the time you factor in your commute.

I’ve been to tons of games. If you have exciting young players it’s fun to go watch them. If you have a good team it’s worth the gamble that they might lose to go. The Flames right now have neither.

And people spend tens of thousands of dollars on season tickets to "protect their seats"

I think I've been saying this now for years that the NHL is abusing their paying customers in a short-sighted attempt to jack up the salary cap. It's a gate driven league and they've completely driven away the paying public especially in canada. Absurd concession prices and overpriced tickets, I'm glad ownership is feeling the pinch. There needs to be a serious rethink of the game day experience and price is just one aspect

World Series tickets are also cheap right now. This kind of thing is happening everywhere. Inflation is taking its toll on the disposable income families have.

Feels like every street within 3 km of the arena is under construction as well which can't be helping the situation.

For a team that's accomplished and built as little as they have, they are lucky Calgarians have been so tolerable. Enough is enough at this point.

An arena paid for by taxpayers should solve this issue, no problem. And surely they won't charge exorbitant prices for tickets, food, and merch, right?

8 bucks for a ticket. 50 bucks minimum for parking/transport and a beer with a snack. If the team is winning you pay for the atmosphere. Much easier to enjoy life at home when the team stinks this hard. Pretty easy to see why ownership pushes hard to be competitive every season.

The NHL has basically priced itself out of the market for many people, especially in the age of skyrocketing inflation and living costs. I haven't gone to a game in ages and unless they're free, will continue to just watch on TV. Too expensive.

$8 is pretty good though lol.

No one cares if it's $6 or $7 or $8 or $9 for popcorn. They'll get it anyway.

Or you can spend $1 for a popcorn and $4 for a drink at home and turn it off and walk over to bed when you feel like it.

One of the advantages of watching the game at home is, you can have a wank during intermission and it isn't weird. Try doing that in the Saddledome

No kidding, the Flames have been dog#### for a generation, save for a magical run to the finals 20 years ago and an unexpected trip to the second round 8 years ago.

Seems like the ticket value system has flipped where it used to be hard to find legit tickets close to game times and now it's almost always cheaper to wait until 1 hour before.

Calgarians have been extraordinarily patient with poor on-ice performances, a building decades behind the industry standard, and nonstop price increases on everything. No team should expect to get away with that forever.

Probably not ideal to gouge taxpayers on a new arena deal like they did, given the circumstances. Bold strategy for sure.
