- Flames solid five on five
- Lose game on two Ranger powerplay goals in the second
- Markstrom 3 goals on 20 shots, and 3 on 5 in the second period
- Kadri at least with some spark

Shesterkin with 2 huge saves in the 2nd, when the game was on the line. Then a terrible goal on Markstrom, and it's 3-1 instead of 2-2 or even 3-2 Flames. Game over.
Too bad, it was a pretty solid effort. But the Flames miss the net on their scoring chances FAR too often.

That sums up the Flames issues in a nutshell. They are scoring at a rate of 2.43 GPG, have a team GAA of 3.57, and team SV% of .881. You don't need to be a statistical expert to figure out why this team has come out of the gates poorly.

Yeah, the Flames sure can't outscore bad goaltending

I also heard the post game interview with Backlund and he was directly asked about Zadorov's comments about individuals not playing as a team and playing for themselves and while he didn't explicitly address it, Backlund's comments to me seemed to indicate that he disagrees with Zadorov, saying something along the lines of how the team is playing hard and playing as a team and supporting each other.
Makes me wonder if Backlund disagrees with Zadorov.

Zadorov has a bit of broken English's, and I think the media is taking off with his quote like its a broken dressing room.
I don't think that is the case.
Even Coleman said it.

I thought his english was fine and I didn't interpret it as a broken dressing room exactly. Just that some guys simply aren't giving max effort and doing what coach is asking of them.

I still maintain that we will learn what this team is between games 10 and 20 on the season. Once you hit that quarter game mark, if you aren't near a playoff spot by then, the team will have a tough time making up ground. This start is definitely making those who spoke about last season not being an outlier look correct.
As much as people appear frustrated, it may be a blessing long-term that they have not started out of the gate strong. If they came out super strong and were riding high, then there is more incentive for management to keep this team together as opposed to making significant changes to a core that does not appear to have any chemistry. Lindholm is a great player but why pay him $9M+ if he has little chemistry with your other top players?
I'm not sure that a rebuild will ever happen, but the Flames have done significant retools in the past and we may be looking at one shortly unless they can really get on a roll in before game 20.
