I would absolutely take a look at Allison.

Great write up on him in the Athletic

Quote:
But the thing with Allison is that all one needs to do is watch him play for a week and it’s easy to recognize that there’s something there. Allison shows regular flashes of being a unique kind of hockey player that every NHL club wants on their side — a wrecking ball of a big, aggressive winger who can skate fairly well, play a fearless game centered around goal scoring and attacking the net front, and do it all while hitting, blocking shots and even dropping the gloves on occasion. NHL GMs salivate over players like that.

Allison has yet to put it all together, coming closest in January when he finished with seven points (four goals, three assists) in 13 games and posted a strong 57.77 percent xG For in the process, looking for the first time in 2022-23 like the player who had so impressed in 2020-21. But then … he got hurt, and while he missed just one game with the injury, his play regressed upon his return in February (two points in 10 games with a 42.54 percent xG For).

Basically, Allison is still a work-in-progress, a soon-to-be 26-year-old who appears capable of a breakout but just hasn’t done it yet.

And the problem is that he might be running out of time to do so — at least with this particular organization.

Former teammate of Walker Duehr with the Tri-City Storm (2015-2016).

I would rather just give players already in the organization the opportunity than add another 26 year old tweener from waivers.

It's time the organization reward internally.

A bunch of Capitals on waivers, but no Phillips. Pretty good sign for him.

Yeah, if they were going to send him down, they would waive him on a day that will likely have a lot of other waiver bait on it.

I think they'll give him a solid stretch of games to make a case for himself.

I think the Caps know the Flames would claim if he was put on waivers. He dazzled in camp and deserves a look but I don’t think they would have snuck him past if they did waive him

unless it is the same person making both claims, this point is meaningless

Yeah strange comment from GioforPM. Don't think I have seen anyone say they want Dube gone and want Allison as a replacement..

I think Allison would make for an interesting claim. Especially over Hunt.

He could give you 4th line minutes with potential to play up the line up if he can stay healthy.

Why ? He doesn't really have great AHL stats.

Three years ago he had potential but now looks like an AHL/KHLer .

I'd venture to say this group all clears tomorrow as well.
Nylander was only one few couple days I thought would get claimed.

I don't think the Flames would claim him. Not with Coronato poised to play full time in the NHL.

I thought Ryan Carpenter was a passable 4th liner with the Flames. He also isn't shy about playing a heavier game and dropping the gloves.
