I just want one of Coronato/Shariganovich/Mangiapane to work on shooting the puck as fast as they can when they get it. At least twice a game Huberdeau makes an amazingly unexpected pass and everyone seems surprised, then flubs, and makes another pass. Get Mike Cammalleri to come train one of these guys.

Surprised there were no cuts yesterday. Wonder if we see any prior to the game?

I wonder if Gilbert was in B because he's coming back from injury or because he's been passed in the depth chart.

FlamesNation Mailbag

In terms of “big impact” guys, Dustin Wolf seems like a future starter in the NHL, Jeremie Poirier has the dynamism in his game that could allow him to run an NHL power play, and Connor Zary is such a smart, versatile player that he should be able to do a lot of different things once he figures the NHL pace out.

Is this the last pre-season game? If not then, when's the last one? When's the season opener?

Edit: I think I see it; October 11th is the first regular season game.

Yeah, I think Solovyov is smart and steady enough to cut it at the nhl level.

Not sure if it will be to start the year though.

That goes for Lindholm too, and even held true for Toffoli. I hope they keep Lindholm with Huberdeau long enough to allow Lindholm to adjust and start converting because he was getting some great opportunities early in the season last year before Sutter pulled the plug.

Last home pre-season game. I think that's your starting lineup for the season, based on current thoughts.

I like seeing Hunt in there on the 4th line. I think it's his job to lose at this point, based on his camp so far.

(Weegar notwithstanding, of course)

I'd guess we'll see Solovyov and Oesterle alternate at 6/7 for a while to see if Solovyev can handle the #6 full time.

Solovyov absolutely deserves to make it.

But I don't think he is going to be ahead of Oesterle, to get into the top 6. And you don't want him munching popcorn. So send him down, let Gilbert be the #7, and Solovyov is your first call-up

The problem with Hunt is that he's not a center. He's soon to be 28 years old, has 200 NHL games played, and has taken just 43 faceoff's to date (winning just 25% of them). I don't think he can crack a top eight winger spot on this team, either, unless you have Ruzicka centering the 4th line which isn't the most ideal spot for his skillset.

Schwindt should get a hard look for the 4C spot.

When they traded for him they said Hunt played LW and C.
