Happy to hear it. Curious if that is a full time job?

Congrats to Loubo. Great guy from all accounts, and definitely has a passion for the sport.
I'm curious to know what a reserve list scout is? Reserve list as in players on a reserve list that he scouts for? Or reserve list as in he's a scout who's on a reserve list and is deployed as a back up scout?

He’s probably just there to advise the team about charming anecdotes from the players’ midget team in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.

Rare to meet people who love the games at all levels like Lou does. I ref minor hockey and would see him at the rink for Peewee games. Just there as a fan of the game.
This could be a great opportunity for him.

Reserve List means he scouts guys on the reserve list like Yuri Trubachev and Ruslan Zainullin.

As I understand it, he will be scouting players who are on the reserve lists of the Flames and other teams.
I assume it's somewhere between an amateur scout (who are mostly focused on draft-eligible players) and a pro scout (who are focused on players who are playing in the ECHL, AHL, and NHL).
He'll be tracking players like Honzek and Lipinski for the Flames, but also recent draft picks from other teams who are still in junior/college and the Flames might be interested in acquiring.
If the season doesn't go well and we see a fire sale of all the pending UFAs at the deadline, this could be a very important role.

Loubardias never struck me as having a particularly keen eye for talent. He used to gush over Kris Russell when he was a Flame.

Russell did play over 900 games in the NHL, not bad for a 3rd round pick. He was far from perfect, but did possess some redeeming qualities to keep him in the league that long.

I would think a reserve list scout would have to rely a lot on video and not live games. Most scouts seems to be geographically based, but it doesn't seem like a reserve list scout would be that effective just scouting in their region. I could be wrong though.

Loubo has a lot of connections around the league. He's probably heard way more than he ever shared with the public.

He had a particularly keen eye for keeping his job. That means knowing when to spout flattering BS about his employers and when to shut up.

I like Lou but I can understand why he's not everyone's cup of tea. I think there is value in having a guy with an encylopedic knowledge/passion of Jr hockey within the organization.
