Sad days. One of the top 5 most iconic voices of the NHL.

Awful news. He was to Sabres fans what Peter Maher is to us. Absolute icon and one of the best to ever do it. So passionate about his craft too, I wish he got to call a Sabres cup win.

He had many great calls but I absolutely cannot stand the May Day call, that is easily the most disliked call in hockey history for me. An amazing career and a game calling icon though for sure, RIP.

Only people that hated that call were Bruin fans, I thought it was fantastic

Yeah, that was an incredible call, what a weird take. Had literally never heard that before.

Damn. His play by play was iconic. “Top shelf where mama keeps the cookies” was my favorite of his. RIP

RIP - obviously hits me pretty hard especially, these were the calls I grew up listening to and he'll always be my favorite. All my best Sabres memories are associated with his calls. A true legend and all-time great -- I wish he would've got to call a Sabres cup win or at least seen one before he passed.

Man... that really sucks. One of those announcers who nearly everyone was a fan of, no matter what team you cheered for, because he clearly enhanced the entertainment value of the product on the ice.

Everyone probably has their own favourite call of his, and there are dozens to choose from... this one's mine.

The May Day call is an all-timer. I get goose bumps every single time.

12 Days of Jeanneret is a staple every Christmas for us as well.
