Unheralded heart and soul guy here and I think losing him actually lost that identity from the 14-15 team.

When a guy his size goes out and works as hard as they do every shift, and play physical even at his size that gets the rest of the team pumped up.

Money for the Habs at $1.6, scoring 43, 35 and 31 (in 55 games). Then they signed him for $3.4x4 and he hit an enormous wall physically (and even when in he didn't produce much).

That was the biggest letdown ever when we knew we got something from the Sabres for Regher and every name was mentioned except his... lol

I remember going to a game where he missed like 3 breakaways, which seemed to be what spelled his demise as a Flame.

Always thought it was a mistake to let him go, though.

would've been a star player if he had better hands. Really shows how many attributes you need to become a top 6 NHLer

For those with short memories. Paul Ranheim , Matthew Lombardi... 2 other guys with speed that couldn't always score on Breakaway.

For what it's worth Byron hit like a truck for his size, was a pain in the arse for not just Drew Pouty Paul was a fierce competitor and his team mates adored him.

I know someone who works for the Flames mentioning how angry guys were in the room once he was gone. Heart and soul doesn't even cover it.

We've seen to few a player like that in Calgary . Byron was always memorable in my mind for the good little things he did as a team mate, silent leader .

When I think of good all around players I think of Yelle, Gelinas, Patterson, Robert's, Kipper....all guys who you never had to worry about making sure we had the best chance to win and always showed up and did things no one else was doing.

Byron was one of those guys. He got concussion issues after he left here and I am glad he's okay. Bottom line ....walk away intact.

Paul Byron is a rare case of a tweener carving out a legitimate NHL career after the age of 24. He ought to be proud of what he accomplished.

Career 521gp 98G 110A 208Pts
Flames 130gp 16G 30A 46Pts

Estimated Career Earnings $19,757,045

No, not Spulllll!!! Loved what he did after getting picked up on waivers. Showed real gumption. Good job on making a career of it.

I remember ripping it because of how impressive the entire sequence was. There was a 3 on 3 shift of his (before that was the OT standard) I remember being so good and confidently saying he'd be a OT weapon but was told off by some because he was just a 4th liner for us.

Once again, #### zack kassian’s drunk ass for getting in a car crash and opening up a roster spot giving the Habs room to claim Byron.

I was dissappointed when they let him go. Thought he added a lot of value.

Put him on waivers to preserve what? Three goalies? Or was that Brandon Bollig?
