That is awful to hear. I never heard about it before this, not sure if they kept it quiet or I just missed it, but always sad to hear someone die so young.

It does sound from that tweet that he did have a positive attitude about it which is great.

Not kept quiet at all. They have been very up front throughout the process. At one stage it sounded hopeful but things had started to get quiet which is always a concern.

Brutal for the kid and his family, cancer sucks. Not to sound cold but I assume the leafs will get a compensatory pick for his loss, 2nd rounder I think.

#### cancer. I hope the day is within reach of our lifetime when most cancers will be curable and we will be able to look back upon it as a dead scourge like smallpox.

I'm sorry. You must be an incredibly strong person, and you should feel proud that you keep honouring them everyday.

It’s sad to hear about this. Seems like a lot of form of brain cancer are difficult to treat. I thought it was on the right path so it’s definitely sad this was the case.

If he signed his ELC there is no compensation. I'm.note sure he did or not. If he never signed the ELC then it's a compensatory pick after Round 1 and before Round 2, because he was drafted in the first round.

Awful news for the family and organization. RIP.

Reminiscent of Mickey Renaud, a promising Flames draft pick that died of heart failure at 19.

Maybe I’m misreading your second sentence but Rodion definitely knew that he had brain cancer - he had gone through four chemotherapy treatments.

Brain cancer is awful. The most common form is almost completely terminal and can usually only be slowed by treatment. If that form is in a relatively accessible area surgery can remove a bunch of it but it grows tentacles and is virtually impossible to remove the all of the cells but surgery can extend things for a while.

Neil Peart, Gord Downie, John McCain, and the lead singer of Roxette all were taken away from us by it.

And George Pelawa - Flames’ 1986 1st round pick - killed in a car accident shortly after being drafted.
