Yeah it's been talked about by everyone that the biggest difference is the defensiveness zone system.
Cleaning that up will hopefully get us out of the zone faster and spend less time chasing.
We did finish 2nd in goals against in the division so keeping that # the same or a bit better is important but we need to score a lot more. We are playing in the highest scoring division in the league.

Going to be very interested to see which strategy they use with the zone defence.
Are they going to be pushing the attackers to the boards or forcing the play back to the point. Are they going to play the centerman low or generally high.

I know a lot fans and media had Coronato pencilled into the starting lineup. But looking at those lines and the RW depth chart, it would be surprising if he made the NHL roster out of camp.

I went to the youngstars tourney expecting to watch him dominate. You could tell he wants the puck, he was a great shot, he’s pretty good with the puck in traffic, he can definitely stand up for himself, looked pretty good on the powerplay.
But in no way was he dominant.
I have a feeling he will make it though. Even though he didn’t dominate he definitely looked to have enough self confidence to be able to make the jump. I personally hope he makes it.

Who's ahead of him?
LW:
Huberdeau
Mangiapane
Dube
RW:
Coleman
Sharangovich
Then 3 spots left for:
Pelletier
Duehr
Coronato
Ruzicka
Klapka
My guess is that Coronato makes it, and Ruzicka and Klapka are the 13th and 14th forwards.
The biggest headwind for Coronato is the fact that Ruzicka isn't waiver exempt, and they can probably only afford 13 forwards. So that might force Coronato down for now.
Otherwise, going on merit, I think he's in the driver's seat.

He isn't the kind of player that dominates. He has a role, and the NHL is very much about filling a role. Coronato is a sniper who knows how to get himself open. He needs to play with guys that allow him to play that role, he doesn't need to be a puck-carrying, dominating player.

Based on what Huska said players will get rotated on the wing for pre season games.
These are just camp lines right now but yeah currently it’s hard to see a spot for him.
Although I think Dube should be down the lineup.

IMO, playing with a couple good, two-way guys like Dube and Kadri, would allow him to do his thing.

Kids are on a line together to determine which of them makes it through the first set of cuts IMO

I like the following as a good, balanced lineup:
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Sharangovich
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Dube - Kadri - Coronato
Pelletier - someone - Duehr (not a Ruzicka fan, personally)

The size and ability for Rusicka can’t be overlooked and he produced a lot for the time period he was in.
I think having bigger players is something they want so he will be given every chance to make it.
But agreed on the Kadri line he can gain the zone as good as anybody he just needs to dish the puck.

Am I correct in assuming still no Kylington?

It wouldn’t be surprising if Dube slotted as RW on Kadri’s line.
Duehr plays a role on the 4th line that you probably don’t want a player you’re grooming for a scoring role to take. Better Coronato get premium ice time, PP, etc with the Wranglers.
It’s really not common for college players to jump immediately into the NHL without AHL seasoning.

If I had to guess it will be a while until we see him , if at all. Mental health problems are no joke and can take a very very long time to try and somewhat control it. Control it is probably not the right wording

We also had Milano, and Eakins in the 'lineup' to start camp last year. Zadorov was a shoe in the top 4 when he got here, but Kylington took that spot a couple of games into the season.
For me that's a part of the fun of watching the camp battles and preseason games. A lot depends on how Ruzicka and Coronato look in the preseason games. Coronato could also be plan B if Sharangovich doesn't develop chemistry on the 1st line.
The same goes for the 4th line C, it looks like it's Rooney's spot right now, but I wouldn't put any money on it just yet.

I understand that, but my understanding was that he was in Sweden and came to Calgary for Camp. If he wasnt ready to participate then why is he here?

Its his first taste of pro hockey really, so it will take some time to adjust to the speed of ....everything.
IMO it will come down to him or Pelltier taking the 3rd RW slot with an outside chance Klapka makes noise for it.
Duehr will stay regardless because he is just as suited for the 4th spot as he is the 2nd or 3rd.
Coronato needs to play, so its a top 3 line role or the Wranglers for him.

Didn't the team mention fitness results when declaring he wasn't ready for day 1? Could simply have picked up a bug or have a small injury.
