Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...
1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Went with Coronato.
Maybe its emotional damage, but I just can't get that excited about a goalie prospect anymore. I think my opinion on that position has changed more than anything else during my fandom.
You're after a unicorn (Vasilevskiy) that has to be drafted by your team (like Wolf), or you're best off just "moneyballing" the position. Is Wolf a unicorn?

Top 5 for me:
1. Wolf
2. Coronato
3. Honzek
4. Morin
5. Pelletier
Maybe some shiny new toy syndrome, but I think both Honzek and Morin have a higher ceiling than Pelletier.
Morin may be the prospect I'm most intrigued about in the whole organization.

I'm hesitant on goalies as well but with Wolf winning back to back AHL goalie of the year, and league MVP and his constant ask from other teams I just can't put him any lower than #1.

Wolf and Corontato feel like 1a, 1b.
I feel like both could be impact players as early as this season.
After that it feels like a bit of a drop off to Honzek.

Looks like a 2 horse race here. Hard call but I opted for Coronato. While Wolf has played well to date Coronato has not been a slouch. At Wolf's size he may get exposed at NHL level. I think he'll be a player but there is more risk, whereas to me Coronato if not a 1st line winner, will end up a productive middle 6 guy at least

I don’t know how there is any hesitation for everyone to pick Wolf this round. Could a goalie possibly have a better statistical trend to becoming an NHL’er? I guess draft position and physical size are the easy arguments for the skeptics, but his RESULTS speak for themselves.

Again though, he has no RESULTS at the NHL level, and IMO its by far the biggest position jump from AHL to the NHL.
With his size there is a legitimate chance he does not translate. Not a giant chance to be sure, but its there.
I have him#2 because Coronato screams "cant miss" to me....Wolf doesn't simply because of his position and under sized frame for said position.

Picked Wolf. Still scarred from Parsons & Gillies though so it was a struggle picking a goalie #1.

So you’re confident an undersized winger who posted ‘good’ results against boys is a better prospect than a goalie who has ‘dominated’ every league he has ever played in, including 2 years professionally against men? …ok. I do agree Wolfs size may prevent him from repeating his success at the NHL level but every skeptic at every new level jump in his path to the NHL thus far has been wrong.

Looking like an interesting top 10 this year. New draftees, college kids, AHL experienced players all in the mix.

I think you can make a case for 3 guys at the top:
Wolf is obviously loaded with potential, but is a goalie
Coronato is looking rock solid to become a top 6 player
Honzek has a super high ceiling, but I think we need to see a year of progression before he can challenge for the top 2 spots.
So for me, that's my order.

That's my top 5 exactly
Nice to have guys like Zary, Poirier, Suniev and others sitting in the wings, after a pretty good top 5

Have to go with Wolf. He has the potential to Gaudreau-ize the retool/rebuild. At this point it is still just potential, but if the Flames have a high end starter on their hands it could accelerate the competitive return of the team.
If nothing else, he is a really fun goaltender to watch play with how mobile he is.
And that is for better or worse. In retrospect, the 2015ish era Flames probably could've used another high end pick to rebuild with. But if you have prospects that outperform their draft position, you gotta roll with it.

Wolf, then Pelletier. Pelletier has shown the most consistency of any of the remaining prospects and looked ready for full time duty. Coronato may still require some time in the AHL to get ready for the NHL and the NHL grind. Junior players are lucky to crack the top five because you don't know what you have in them until they step on the ice with professionals. It's easy to dominate a bunch of 16 and 17 year old kids when you have a huge size or skill advantage. It's what happens at the next level that matters. See Rory Kerins for a recent example.
