Remember when Oilers fans said he was better than Gaudreau? Good times

I'm actually interested to see what he can do on a real team with real minutes.

Seattle arent great, but they're not terrible either, but Yamamoto's directive in Edmonton was essentially to chew the clock while the Wunderkindern caught their breath and then staple his ass back on the bench.

Playing with Seattle he might actually get a chance to show what he can do. And for $1.5M its pretty low-risk on Seattle's part if he does just genuinely suck.

Wait, he didn't re-sign in Edmonton after they traded him? I thought that was the plan.

That was the plan, until Yamamoto & he agent decided that maybe listening to the conspiracy theory fuelled Oiler fanbase might not be the wisest course of action.

Even Holland is probably twice shy about negotiating with someone who clearly snookered him the last time.

Can’t go back to Edmonton after Detroit bought him out.

Yamamoto played with McDavid/Draisatl more often than away from them.
The knock on Kailer from the fans was that he didn't produce enough despite having the best linemates.
Coaches liked him though and he plays with a lot of jam despite having a size disadvantage in every battle.

If the kid can avoid more injuries he should have a long career in the NHL.

I don't recall ever saying that. If you find a quote where I did feel free to roast me.

I think he's going to carve out a career as a serviceable middle-roster player.

He has some skill and he seems tenacious and plays 'big' but he has to know his role. That 'playing big' is getting his small frame consistently rocked, hes gotta get away from that.

I really think that Edmonton's 'system' if you want to call it that, just really didnt suit him.

A fresh slate in Seattle could be just what he needs.

Great for Seattle. They now have the missing trade piece they need to acquire Erik Karlsson at 50% retained.

Yes he could… but why would they? Browns his replacement.

Maybe it's just me but I see Seattle taking a step back next year ... I am not sure if they make the playoffs, honestly.
