Hellebuyck will be good value for the first 5 years of that deal, but I have serious doubts about Scheifele. He's already started to decline a little. This could be a catastrophic failure, but I get why Winnipeg needs to appear to be able to retain big name talent.

I think both players are incredibly overrated personally.
Scheifele especially. Such a whiner.

So Scheifele signs this as a 30 year old, but the deal kicks in at 31. Lindholm will be entering his next contract at 29 and turning 30 a few months in.
8x$8.8M is the Lindholm contract. Anything above that is above market value in my eyes.
(and I still wouldn’t want Lindholm at $8.8 for 8)

If the Jets get him for 7*8.5AAV, the Flames shouldn’t have to pay Lindholm 8*9.3AAV. Schieffele scores more points.

I hate that Scheifele dea. One way forwards like him don’t age well. I’m not sure why the Jets didn’t want to move on from him seeing he’s no leader and not a winner.
