Teams not willing to pay a fair price for Hanifin are going to be disappointed in their pivot options lol. Example number 1.

I can stomach it for 1 year at that salary, but I really hate the player, so it's a complete waste to me.

Low risk move for them. Worth the gamble.

This is totally fine. The Flames can trade Hanifin to a team willing to pay a fair price and get Duclair in a seperate deal. This does shrink the market by 1 team, but I’m not worried.

He had a broken foot for half the year. Even though I'm laughing, I actually don't think he will be that bad. I think he'll have a bit of a bounce back. He definitely can't be any worse than he was with the Canucks.

It also tells me Florida isn’t budging either, and one more team off the potential list.

I think it’s worth grabbing him when you’re beginning the year without Ekblad and Montour, no?

Guess playoff Bennett won't have a chance next year.

This is super low risk though and from what I understand he never recovered fully from the knee injury last year. Maybe he is done, maybe not but at least you are getting a motivated player who is playing for a new contract.

I know we badly needed experienced d-men, but OEL is so bad defensively now that he'll make Marc Staal look indispensable.

I don’t care if he is good or not. I only care if this takes them out of bidding for Hanifin. If flames want to get close to full value in trade they need a team that will offer an extension straight away and he be willing to go to . Think Florida is one of those teams that offer both.
