Vancouver 2023 Draft Re-cap
We had 3 picks in the first and 3 in the second, took a swing at 12 and later in the second round:
10. David Reinbacher
The top dman in the draft, I had him at #7 on my list. I was targetting Moore with this pick who went #9 but happy with Reinbacher.
12. Dmitri Simashev
I explored dropping back a few spots and hoping no one else had him as high but nothing worked out so went a bit off the main draft board here.
The more I read about this prospect the more I wanted him. 6'4 LHD dman, one of the best skaters in the draft class, likes to hit and throw the body, and has a bit of an attitude. I see lots of similarities to Moritz Seidler with him mostly ranked in the later half of the 10-25 range and went early in the draft.
Took a swing, we'll see how it works out.
28. David Edstrom
Big two way centre who's hard to knock off the puck, what's not to like? I was hoping Ritchie would drop here but he ended up 23.
39. Michael Hrabal
First goalie of the draft, he's big, 6'6. I saw some mock drafts sneak him into the very late first round. I debated drafting Sawchyn or Dragicevic here, they ended up going a few picks later at 42 & 43
47. Charlie Stramel
Value pick here. He was projected as a first rounder at the start of the year but had a poor season and fell down the rankings, possible late bloomers if he can figure things out.
56. Kalan Lind
Two-way energy forward, younger brother of Kole Lind, if he can make it I think teams will hate playing against him.
