Former Coyote. More of an offensive D. Not a bad signing. Think he'll be the 7D.

Unless they still sign Stone, I wouldn't be surprised if Oesterle spends the whole season with the Flames and bumps Gilbert back down to the Wranglers.

Does this spell the end for Michael Stone? Maybe Stone on a 2-way.

Feel like Oesterle could be the 7 and Stone the 8 and once Hanifin is traded they each bump up a spot

Conroy said he and Stone would reconnect as Calgary is the only place he wants to play.

I bet he gets another contract and like always manages to deliver when called upon. He'll also score against Anaheim as is tradition.

Oesterle is the Stecher replacement and new 7D?

This seems fine. Gilbert looked okay in spurts, but that game where he kept getting burned by the Leafs big 3 was brutal. Bumping him down to the 8D/9D seems like the right spot on the depth chart.

Surprised a signing before Hanifin is moved. Wonder if there's something in the hopper.

I seriously doubt this has anything to do with a potential Hanifin trade.

Oesterle is depth, not a Hanifin replacement.

I'm not implying he's a Hanifin replacement but more so adding salary to an already tight cap situation without subtracting. Hanifin is the biggest one being suggested to move right away.

Oesterle can be buried in the AHL with no cap hit on the NHL roster assuming he clears waivers.

Not a big cap concern.

I think Stone deserves the respect of a 1-way only.

Solid signing.

Stone may be back in Calgary, but it will be an AHL deal.

Haha posters thinking stone will lose his 7th dman job to this guy. I expect another pto for stone and another year as 7th dman.

I think they would have made a signing like this regardless. A Hanifin trade that doesn't bring a D-man back in return will probably determine whether Stone gets another contract.
