Easy to bring misfits to a great culture. Deangelo worked for them before and most likely will work again.

Not really fair to judge Philly for this, since Briere just got the job recently and is trying to undo years of mismanagement by Fletcher.

Carolina is a smart organization, and I admire Philly for finally being proactive and intellectually honest with their state as an organization. I think Briere will finally lead them out of that shadow of being Calgary East.

Carolina doesn’t piss around that’s for sure.

That Hamilton deal looks bad on them. Except, they seem that they are never beholden to one of two players who walk. They seem to be awesome at drafting and filling gaps with highly effective players.

Briere will have his work cut out for him ... Fletcher really effed them up, it's going to take a while to clean that up. That trade for DeAngelo also never really made sense for where the Flyers were at the time, but I guess on the back of the horrific Ristolainen trade and contract, all Fletcher could do was dig further down ...

According to the Athletic, the Hurricanes have the 5th best cap situation in the NHL this year, and the 12th best group of prospects. (For reference, the Flames rank 28th and 20th).

For a team that has been top 5 in the NHL for a few seasons now, that’s pretty impressive. They’ve managed to achieve sustained success without mortgaging their future or getting weighed down with bad contracts.

They are easily one of the top 5 best run organizations. Say what you want about Dundon but he's got that ship steered in the right direction.

I remember a few years ago when Carolina had gotten a new owner, people thought the team would be a mess when Waddell was hired. In my opinion, he is a Top 3 GM in the league right now. Carolina has done a great job building a strong team and showing that hockey is supposed to be entertainment (celebrations after wins, socisl media, etc.)

Apparently it’s Tulsky that makes most of the hockey decisions. Waddell is more of a figurehead on the hockey side and plays a bigger role on the business side.

Then that's too bad the Flames didn't go hard after him when looking for a GM.

Flyers doing a simultaneous fire sale as the Flames are going to hurt asset returns. Likely the reason a move hasn't been made yet.
