Seemed pretty clear on garbage bag day that Lucic was moving on regardless. I think he ends up in Vancouver or Seattle in the west (outside chance LA) or Toronto or Boston in the east (outside chance Florida).

Big loss to the community.
Always loved the guy. Not his fault Edmonton gave him that contract.
Also, not his fault Tre had to use his bad contract to fix the Neal contract.

I think he is still a serviceable NHLer. Getting out from that contract I think will be huge for him and the next team will benefit from that.

Permission to talk with "a few teams". Why not any team?

Hopes of getting a late pick in return for early access? But you still would want to cast a wide net if that was a possibility.

Maybe no talking to divisional teams? Lucic was so soft against the oilers that it might benefit us as a wasted body if he goes to a pacific team.

Anyone else have a thought why just a few teams?

Good for him that he still wants to play. He can contribute on the bottom lines as a leader. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get into coaching one day.

That was a tidy piece of work. Lucic was a great roll player.

Might just be the phrasing and only a few teams have actually asked.

Maybe it's just wording because a few teams asked for permission. Doubt they'd restrict anyone else.
