Oilers as usual trying to siphon off talent from the Flames organization since they can't scout or develop talent for #### themselves.
Edit: I can't read. Luke's brother.

??
Isn't Noah a center? And the Flames organization has no official ties to him, correct?

Hopefully his brother gives a good referral for how he's been managed & developed.

This player is a forward. 6'3 RHS. Decent WHL production and decent Canadian U production, but not as good as Luke.

Compare to Derek Ryan's career at U of A, where he scored at 0.5g/game.
Albeit a tiny sample in comparison, Noah scored at a goal a game.

Luke scored at almost 2ppg over 2 years in that league. The offensive translation isn't direct. There's been a learning curve to the AHL.
Im interested in the player too but let's cool our jets worrying about the oilers stealing any talent from us.

Sorry I realized after the fact. I don't know why I thought of him as a D initially.
Point remains. Russell, Ryan, Brossoit, Chiasson.
Even Kulak to a lesser extent. Brought up through our system.

Luke Philp is a pretty good AHLer. Not sure if he makes the jump at this point though, other than as a spot duty tweeter.
A Philp-Philp-Phillips line would be fun for the Heat PBP guy though.

So does flip buy a Philp jersey?

Luke Philp is a darn good AHLer and I'd love to see him get some NHL time after the Flames clinch. I'd go as far as to say he's Stockton's best centre (yes, better than Gawdin).

How does he compare to Ruzicka?

Honestly forgot he was back down there.
Stylistically, they're opposites. If Ruzicka is Monahan, Philp is Derek Ryan. Philp is a deceptively good skater with a low centre of gravity and a pretty energetic stride. If there's one thing that puts him close to Ruzicka, it's his shot — he's arguably Stockton's best sniper. But he also touches all parts of the game. Kills penalties, PP mainstay. Very reliable.

Is this guy even gonna be an NHLer?
Seems like a fake sweepstakes so the Oilers can act like they are a desirable location

So what? I mean I hate the Oilers too but are you saying that we should've held on to those players?
I can at least understand Canucks fans being a bit frustrated we "poached" Markstrom and Tanev, they're actually good players unlike the chaff that the Oilers got from us. Shame on us for not drafting and developing a star goalie and defenseman ourselves though, right? Players move to other teams all the time and for many many reasons. Weird thing to be annoyed about.
Back to the topic: I'm a bit confused about Noah's 2 games with the Heat. Was that just an AHL try-out or something?

Noah Philp sounds like a player the Flames were interested in graduating out of Junior, who instead opted for Canadian University. Now being revisited maybe he wants to play alongside his brother? Sounds like the Flames may have the upper hand here.
Another card for the team if that's the case. A little reminiscent of the Spencer Foo situation.
