Icon48 Buyouts - Wheeler, Yamamoto, Reilly, Duchene

1st buyout window closes today. Teams can open up a 2nd buyout window after their last salary arbitration case is settled

What, why would they even bother getting Yamamoto just to buy him out!

They gained nothing from this.

Yzerman doing Edmonton a solid is disgusting.

That trade should be investigated two buddies linking up to help Edmonton clear cap.

Presumably because they were really after Kostin, which makes sense. Yamamoto is NG.

It is weird.. although I guess Detroit could say they wanted Kostin and taking on the cost of the buyout was the price they paid.

Literally makes no sense. Edmonton didn’t even send a sweetener to them to buy out the contracts. Gross. Fml I hate Edmonton so much.

Not a fan of Nashvilles moves lately. First they scoop Wood out from under the Flames, and now they flood the market with C’s which will depress Lindholm and Backlund trade value.

Basically paid close to a $1 million and minimal cap hit over the next 2 years for Kostin.

Nashville practically getting nothing for Johansen and Duchene must hurt too. But at least they're honest with themselves and ripping the bandaid off.

Wow, I wasn't expecting 3 of the buyouts. One is NG.

Those could be some good adds offensively for a team with cap space.

I know we’re in no position to do it so I’m not suggesting it as something the Flames should do, but I’ve always liked Wheeler and would’ve been happy to see him in a Flames jersey.

Duchene and Reilly are both interesting, depending on what they're looking for as UFAs. I would think Duchene is worth a decent chunk of change.

Unless they're the ones going after Lindholm.

But why? He's not worth it, and also was on track to FA so they needed to pay nothing.

What a baffling move.

It's weird because yes he was overvalued, but... not by THAT much. He's still a solid offensive 2C. Whatever he signs for he'll probably end up making more money as a result with the combination of his buyout money and the money he gets from his new team.
