Is it too much to ask for at least one more Cup before I die?

I remember thinking the Flames might win the Cup again the next year, they still had a great team.

How little I knew lol

Krushelnyskis goal floating over Vernon’s glove was most heart breaking goal against the Flames. Pure luck to chip that one in

If Gilmour's goal in Game 6 had counted, they might have.

Always bugged me that Gary Suter isn't in that picture. I know he was hurt mid-way through the Vancouver series, but figured he had to be with the team during the entire run, right?

I was there, in the LA forum, 14 years old, dressed head to toe in Flames clothes. Sweats, hat, jersey.

When the Flames scored in OT I jumped and cheered and got some eeeeevil looks. Then they called the goal back and LA scored. Boy did I get it from the crowd then.

I was by myself too, dad bought us scalped tickets outside before the game and they weren't even close to being together lol

I liked when the NHL season was always over by the end of May. It goes on far too long now.

The Flames were really a great team back then, and there was so much passion in hockey. It was great.

On this day in 1989, me and the buds watched the win on CBC, immediately jumped in the car and parked as close to 11th Ave as possible and then had an unbelievably joyous time being part of the crowd of 50,000+ fans that rammed Electric Avenue for the night. Somehow managed to actually get into Banditos and the the rest of the night was a blur. Best time ever to be a Flames fan.

It's one of those where Hrudey's leg is behind the line and the puck dribble towards his leg, but did you ever see the puck cross the line, using 1990 technology? The red line came on, somehow, and referee waved it off.

Using HD, 4K whatever today, you'd almost certainly see that it's a goal.

I remember I was taking night classes for my CMA and was debating whether to skip the class and watch the game, I ended up going to class instead because it was the last class before final exam was hoping the instructor would give some pointers. But only 5 in a class of 20 showed up. I was listening to the game with a earplug the whole class. Taped the game though. And on my way home riding the C-train, the driver announced, "ladies and gentlemen, our Calgary Flames has just won the Stanley Cup". The whole train, well there were about 15 or so in our car erupted with joyous "YEAH!!!"

I couldn't remember either, so I read about it. The goal judge saw the loose puck making its way towards the net and turned the light on when it crossed the line. Didn't count because the ref blew the whistle because he had lost sight of the puck. I would assume it would count today.

The Calgary Flames were the highest payroll in the league at that time (pre-salary cap).
