There were some names I was interested in, but once I saw the finalists were mostly old retreads trying to get back in the game I'm now glad they're giving Conroy a shot.

Good news! Especially considering who else was in the mix

Good. It's the right choice for this franchise. Best of luck to Conny.

(if true) It is not surprising. I hope it works out as Conroy seems like a great person and was so easy to cheer for as a player, but it is hard to see this as an exciting move right now.

Always hard to know what an AGM thought, did and how they will act when they get the top job, so hopefully Conroy is a guy who did his best to work with the vision that Tre and the team had while not agreeing with the overall plan.

Hopefully he’s coming in with his own ideas and not just continuing on with what Treliving did…

I like it, he's earned his shot. I'll gladly take him over some of the names that have been floated.

Should also be good news for those who want Mitch Love behind the bench next season. At least that's my hope.

Surely the other old crappy GMs interviewed this week were just token interviews to say they covered all bases. It was going to be Conroy all along, I like to think.

I'm betting he will be in same role as Conroy was when he first joined management until he is done coaching his son. After that officially become an assistant gm.

When is it time to ask about coaching, noting that Conroy has seen Mitch Love doing pretty well internally firsthand, and also played under coach Q from 96-2001 in StL?

I don't get the Iginla talk. I love the guy as much as everybody else, but what exactly has he done to be added to the staff?

I like it. I do believe he sees the game a different way.

His story with Flames is a great one as well and the hire is going to make my mom so happy as well.

He's been coaching his kids.

He looks like a natural on the ice running things actually.

It's kids but I think a guy like Iggy would command respect.

Has quite the mess of a situation to deal with. Should be an interesting off season for him. Hopefully he’s been groomed well to take the next step and this isn’t a cheap hire option.
