Thumbs up The earth is healing

Ever since game 2 of the second round last year everything that could go wrong has.

Vezina goalie melts under the pressure
Young star forward would prefer to play somewhere else and gets traded for a superstar who has the worst season over season points drop in history
Face of the franchise decides he’d rather play somewhere else last minute
Sign the big free agent known for his competitiveness who ends up putting in 0 defensive effort all season (and reps the team in the all star game)
The most fun d-man (and my #1 favorite) quits hockey, maybe never to return
Local talented prospect gets passed over repeatedly, will probably leave as a FA
Northern joke franchise and their players proceed to set scoring record after scoring record
Rookie goaltender dominates the AHL while the NHL pairing sinks the season
Ex-young star forward puts new team on his back and drags them to playoffs and beyond, gets Hart nomination
Presidents trophy winner and defending champs implode in the first round, clearing the way for Northern jokes to make a cup run
Team finishes a point ahead of the team currently in the other conference’s finals, picks 16th
Team GM bails
Franchise legend Coach who everyone thought was the reason GM left gets fired a week later

But now, the grease are out and I feel like the Oettinger curse is finally lifting.

Finally I have hope again.

Good summary of the Flames last couple of seasons. I won’t envy whomever is coming in to try and clean up the mess.

It really did seem like this year was shaping up to be the darkest timeline possible. Thank you Vegas, I hate you, but thank you.

Look at the money tied up long term, the age of our players, the UFAs coming up, the lack of high end prospects, the lack of picks. This next season is likely the high point not the low point. So try and enjoy it.

If you really want to wallow in misery: if Fox hadn't snubbed the flames they could have had him for the 2022 playoff run on an entry level contract. He had 23 points in 20 games for the Rangers instead.

He won the Norris while still on his ELC.

It's miserable being a Flames fan most of the time.

Imagine we were a desirable market - we could have had a team with Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Fox, and Stone... There is a reason a Canadian team hasn't won the cup in 30 years.
