that's actually not a bad return. I guess Canucks could also try to move Beauvillier

Wonder if the Canucks flip Beauvillier too, last thing they need is another winger

And umm the Islanders realize they are 10th in point percentage in the East and a ways back of the top 8 based on point percentage right?

Surprised the Islanders ended up being the team. Canucks won't hold onto Beauvillier I wouldnt think.

I wonder what the protection is like because it has potential to blow up on the Isles if it's like if ___ then the pick is next year

I think it's actually too much. Raty is very good and the Islanders are in no position to be trading firsts.

Yeah especially for an 11th place team. Insane risk.

^I think the first is lottery protected at least.

They weren't ever going to get much more than that in the position they were in. They just need to keep getting assets for who they can get assets for, pumping up their remaining players with power play time and trading them at increased value too, until they've sold everyone who can be sold. Probably except for Pettersson and Hughes.

Basically, it's not a great return but it's not a disaster either.

A 2023 1st even though protected, is a decent get for Canucks. Canucks trade away their captain and heart and soul though,

Even if the pick is 13 in this draft thats a lot for a rental and Raty and Beauvillier are good pieces too.

They need to make up about 6 points just to make the playoffs.

If they can re-sign him to a reasonable deal then maybe it works, but my guess is Horvat might want to test UFA at this point. No reason to sign unless its an overpay

Curious if the Islanders will also announce they have signed Bo Horvat.

I don't get why the Islanders did this. It's not necessarily bad value, I just don't think they're in a position where it makes sense for them to do it.

I also think the Canucks could have done a bit better here as well, but they were likely limited given Horvat is an upcoming UFA.

This seems weird to me from both ends but I think I like it a bit more for the Canucks than I do the Isles.

Plus they chose JT Miller over Horvat. That itself made this whole situation a huge loss for the Canucks.
