Default Dustin Wolf Comparison

As we’re all anxiously waiting for Coronato to sign, I was wondering if there has been anything written about Wolf and comparisons to currant NHL goaltenders? The comparison I draw too is Jusse Saros, based on size and save percentage but I’m not sure that Saros carries close to the accolades that Wolf has prior to entering the NHL. Its hard to temper expectations with Wolf and I’m just wondering what your guy’s thoughts on who he compares too and maybe what your expectation is?

Also sorry for starting a new thread on this, I was much to lazy to search for the last thread regarding Dustin Wolf.

Jonathan Quick seems to be the most popular comparison from what I've seen/read

I just know I'm sick of mediocre/unpredictable goaltending. This guy can't be playing up here soon enough.

We were supposed to have a sure thing with markstrom. But aside from last year it's like we never got off of the B goaltender carousel.

Hopefully this guy can finally stabilize the position

I've gotten way too excited about way too many Flames goaltending prospects to give a crap until he's our starting goalie for a season and we make the playoffs.

Because of his size, I’ve heard comparisons to Saros

Because of size, the only sensible comparison is Saros.

The world is littered with goalies for rent who had great minor league stats.

Although Wolf’s are so sensational it’s hard not to get excited.

I get the tepidity but he’s kind of separated himself from past other prospects as he’s putting up numbers that no Flames goaltending prospect has put up in the AHL. Seven SO and a .931 SV% against pros and he really has nothing else to prove in that league. The guy is a really good goaltender.

Yup. Just another league where the undersized 7th round pick decimates the opposition on skill alone. His play really should quash all the tiny player talk just like Gaudreau did at his position.

Dude is a rare rare rare find. And one the scouts got all wrong. Although I'd argue the fuel that wolf has used to develop is in fact the stupidity at large of critically thinking undersized players don't belong.

If you're good enough, you're good enough. And he's shown it. In spades.

I've never seen another goaltending prospect on any team as dominant as Wolf. He's unbelievable. The hype is warranted.

Isn't he six foot, and only 'small' because of the tendency of teams drafting for equipment size the last two decades?

At some point you have to give the guy some games. He’s performed at every level.

I’m sure he’s not made of sugar.

So I agree and have been to a couple of Wranglers games this year, but I just cant put my finger on who he compares to as far as style is concerned?

Kipper was listed at 6'1 but he was closer to 5'11 if you saw him in person. The height thing is silly.

Hopefully once the Flames are mathematically eliminated, they call him up to play a few games.

Really had hope for Parsons. Sad he had such mental health issues.
