Default Massive investigation on Chestemere area property

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/it-s-unne...mere-1.6347415

Local news doesn't really register on CP for some weird reason, even though 90% of us live here. But this has been gaining lots of traction. Calgary Police and RCMP have been on a property east of Chestemere for four days, with heavy, heavy presence.

It sounds really serious, with neighbours being sent to go stay in hotels and return once a day to feed pets. Weird scenario that really piques interest about what it could be. There's tons of property theft/crime ring type of situations in rural areas, but this seems to be heading towards something really big.

Have never heard of something like that before.

It doesn't sound like neighbors have been sent away but rather it is just the couple that owns the acreage and rents out a building that have been told to leave which is not unusual during an investigation.

The investigation itself seems a bit unusual though since it seems to be dragging on for quite awhile. Obviously if it was a big drug lab it would be shutdown pretty quick and reported on so it probably is something different.

Sounds like bodies to me. I still remember the Pickton investigations and how long those took. Was a couple days before news started trickling out about what was going on there.

If this was drugs, it would have been over by now.

Yes, RCMP forensic specialists usually don't work on the drug trade

Makes sense the Crown is sending them away.

This also seems like a bodies issues.

I hope it isn't

When I first looked at this thread this morning, I thought semi-sarcastically "this will probably the subject of a podcast episode some day"... little did I know...

Really? they've using them for around 50 years now, even TV shows and movies like CIS used them for years, Dogs like Labs and Shepherd's have incredible nose's, I'm sure glad I can't smell like them.

It’s just a little weird that the proper crime is called “administering a noxious thing”.

Sure, but I didnt know they had dogs specifically for cadavers.

Drugs, tracking, sure...all that good stuff, but specifically cadavers?

Question #1: How often is this a concern?

Because I'm beginning to think its a concern more often than I'd like to believe.

I found that a little odd too, there could easily be charges laid to people on the c train for letting one rip Thursday mornings after wing Wednesday.
