Canada/US passport rules

If I am flying to Canada with my 2 kids 15 and17, and we are flying the first week of June, but their US passports expire Nov 18, 2023, am I going to be able to go?

I know there are some rules where your passport can't expire within 6 months of travel, and we'll be at 5 and a half months. Is there a specific rule for Canada US travel?

I don’t think the 6 month rule is strictly enforced but it can be enforced. I think showing a definitive end of your trip with months after that end till expiry is sufficient.

Ya, I think it's up to the indivdual border agent. The idea being, if you are out of the country and something happens, 6 months should be enough to not leave you without a valid passport. Since you are traveling with your kids, I suspect it will be OK, but you could probably contact the CBSA and ask.

For reference I can travel to the USA with a passport that is valid for my duration of stay and could expire the day after I leave.

I’m guessing Canada shares the same rule since I assume the agreement works both ways. I just cant find that for the Canada side.
