Ducks 3 Flames 1
Ducks 3 Flames 1
- Flames out shoot the Ducks but can't finish
- Scoreless first but give up two in the second
- That hurts the playoff chances

Flames generate lots of low quality chances making opposing goal tender look like an all star, Markstrom lets a wrist shot from the blue line in, Flames comes up short... rinse and repeat.

Funny though, that the guy who took the wrist shot from the blue line didn’t get the goal but the guy who tipped it in front of the net somehow did.

Maybe if Stetcher had beat the crap out of Zegras I would have received value for the price of my ticket.

If it were me I would have been fine with not waiting until the final 10 minutes to show any type of desperation and just coming up short because of a hot goalie.
They played like they just expected to win, not like they needed to win.

Biggest problems:
Sutter
Huberdeau
Markstrom
Kadri
Team is stuck with them for a long time without any real young replacements. Sad time coming.
Hopefully treliving takes a hike for architecting this mess

And yet somehow when the gang that can't shoot straight rifles one into the crowd and it bounces around the other goalie still looks great. Markstrom allowed 2 goals on 8 shots to start the game.

All they had to do was beat the 4th worst team in the league and they would have been right back into the race and the Ducks were just too much for them. That has to be pretty telling of this season's Calgary Flames. Just not good enough.

I've agreed with your take on Weegar in that the guy has poor offensive instincts. What really infuriated me was seeing him out on the ice with the net empty. Really Darryl?

Markstrom played well, the same as he has for the last 6 or so games. A deflection got past him, just like the other goalie let Backlund’s more intentional one in.

“Allowed”. “To start the game”.
The goals were (a) deflection off a knee and (b) scramble after he made a save off his mask when the Flames failed to clear and didn’t take a man. He had zero chance on either. And they were in the second period. How is that “to start the game”?

Markstrom was fine. This one was on the disappearing forwards ability to score. Earth to Mangiapane! Last year he was involved after every whistle and in the game. This year, he has pulled a Houdini.

Not sure about too much for them.
They just can't finish. It's been an issue all season.
They had 65% of the play on the night as they should, just couldn't convert.
This wasn't the Chicago home loss where they no showed.
