Wood, McLeod and Lazar might be the fastest 4th line ever.

Lazar has 5 points this year, if you don't think some of Calgary's depth players are worth mid-round picks.
Man, every time I see Lazar I like his play. But seriously the only equivalents on Calgary are Lewis and Ritchie. Lucic is expensive and has a NMC. Everyone else is signed through 2024 or more.
I feel like Ritchie is better and cheaper and a UFA and only a year older?
Ritchie for a 2nd, let’s go.
I think Lazar does a lot of PK, so he's a bit more valuable. I don't think the salary difference is a factor at that level. In fact, the fact Ritchie is a rental makes Lazar more valuable. High priced rentals are valuable because you don't worry about their contract long term. Low priced guys you want term. If they pan out, you have a cheap player, if not, you bury them.

Certainly this means there is a market for some of the Flames players. You have to do some serious contortion to find much upside in Lazar’s game. Almost the definition of replacement level.
Pretty sure Bastian is on the 4th line and he's way better than Lazar
Hes had a brutal season. He's missed half the games and some of those were healthy scratches
Lazar brings some experience and is a pretty good PK guy. He just had no hands.

"If you look at a guy like that, real good depth for us. Strong player. Guy that can step into the middle and win draws. Right-handed face-off guy, can play the wing, penalty killer. It really adds to the depth. Every team is going to deal with injuries. Right now we're doing really good but it's important to have players like that who can help you out."
Devils also have Chris Taylor as an assistant coach and he worked with Lazar in Buffalo so there's some familiarity there.
