Icon59 Oilers 2 - Flames 1

In regards to shots on net, Flames are 3rd in league, but 25th for shot percentage; since posts don't count.

Clearly with the lack of scoring talent on the roster, shots are primarily about quantity over quality. With that being the case, the team needs to ensure that they keep goals against low. And to be sure of that, they need to play discipline and not take unnecessary dumb penalties.

Guess Mangipanie wasn't down for that. His penalty led to the game winner. Damn shame since Markstrom had a good game. Too bad he didn't get the win.

Flames deserved to win that one IMO. Entertaining game with lots of good chances. No complaints.

Flames 100% deserved to win that game. Most dominant they've looked 5 on 5 all year.

1 goal against that defense and goaltending is kinda embarrassing. The lack of finish is beyond frustrating.

The officiating was atrocious once again. Completely ignore blatant penalties on the Oilers. McPP just enough to win. Usual garbage.

Last seven games vs Oilers = 1-6.

I still think the Flames win in a seven game series.

Tons of shots, no finish, dumb penalties. Par for the course.

Markstrom was good tonight and the Flames couldn’t give him the run support.

24-4 shots in the third. Can’t score.

Mangi with a dumb penalty in the offensive zone.

End of story.

Shot quality was good enough tonight. No bounces.

It usually isn’t good enough though, and if you can’t beat the Oilers at home in two tries you should just blow it up because they are ####ing trash.

So ya. Mangi maybe don't do that.

But how is he to know what will be called and what won't. It's very clearly not called even.

We can rag on Mang, and I agree that penalty was brutal, but at the end of the day they scored 1 goal. Their D limited McDavid to 1 point and Markstrom robbed Draisaitl at least 3 times.

Their offence let them down.

Hrudey needs to remember the holding on Nurse call... before he "both sides got away with one" the rest of the calls. Did not like his work tonight.

I don't mind refs putting the whistles away if they just keep them away, in fact I prefer when they do that. Making a soft call every once in a while to remind everyone you're there, to then just put them away after is so frustrating to watch.

Really don't like this Geoff Ward 'Throw every garbage chance at the net and hope you get a bounce' brand of offense.

All in all the first two periods were a lot of fun to watch at least
