Well, Phillips didn't get a real shot, and the RW problem persists. Can't say I agree with this but I look forward to watching him with the Wranglers again.

Good to see Zo stick around, I thought he looked pretty good most of the time. Predictable that Phillips goes back down after barely a look.

Predictable the way Darryl handled Phillips hardly gave him a chance to show case him self an scratched him back to the minors.

Zohorna stood out in his game's so good to see him back.

Pretty par for the course as long as Sutter is involved. I love him as a coach but unless you’re 6’2” and 195 plus pounds, it’s an uphill battle.

How much money did Phillips make while he was the big club?

Saving a few more days' salary...clearly he wasn't going to play the NoGoods anyway.

I would be shocked if he's back up at any point without a slew of injuries.

At this point it’s not really prospect management as he’s a free agent anyways
It’s just about if he can help the big club right now or not

I imagine that this is likely the end of Matthew Phillips’ time with the Calgary Flames. I can’t see the Flames recalling him again when Sutter won’t play him.

The team never gave him a shot. Full stop. I hope he goes elsewhere and establishes himself as a strong NHL players. This organization (to date) has failed him and itself - there is nothing more Phillips could have done to earn a shot, and he never got it.

He's got more runway and pedigree but I'm very curious to see how Darryl handles Pelletier when he was adamant about Phillips' size being a problem for him. Pelletier is one inch taller and five pounds heavier, and having met both they're not much different in size at all.

I'm not overly concerned but it's something to watch out for. Certainly not lost that Pelletier is behind almost all of his peers from the 2019 draft in terms of getting NHL reps.

Just to be clear, Phillips and DeSimone were sent down to the Wranglers on Dec 23 according to the AHL transactions page. Team is only announcing it today.

nhl.com has Pelletier 2" taller and 20lbs heavier. He's also 3 years younger, still room to grow, whereas Phillips, that's his 'man body'.

Edit: Ok, I'll grant you — the AHL site now has Pelletier at 5'10". Could've sworn it was 5'9" when I last checked but nevertheless. Well, perhaps that bodes better for him, but he still looks pretty much equal to Phillips height-wise when they're in the same room.

I know some of us have our pet projects we want to see succeed but Phillips isn’t NHL quality right now. Whether one feels it was fair or not he didn’t make a dent while he was here and as such a diminutive player if he’s not standing out he’s not worth the spot.

His best case scenario ceiling is probably Gerbe and more likely he can have a nice career in Switzerland once this contract is up. Nothing to get worked up about

Isn't this the two of them together?

Nope, this is the end of Flames prospect development as we know it.

Completely disagree with Sutters line management this season, one of our biggest problems and he refuses to try and fix it. Lucic should not be playing in the top 6, this is just stupid, I don’t even want to watch
