That fight was stupid, and it certainly speaks to the “old boys” culture that needs to be eliminated from the game. Fighting to try and stay in the line-up tells me that those who are making the line-up are part of the culture problem in hockey.

Useless fight led to injury. Stupid.

Now all of Gilbert's family Christmas pictures will have him with a black eye. His parents are going to be so disappointed.

Rule #1 about Darryl Sutter. Take anything he says to the media with a grain of salt.

But thats just lying for the sake of lying. Why would Sutter care what people knew about Gilbert? What competitive advantage or disadvantage is there?

Don't question the method. Just accept it.

Sutter in particular doesn't seem to believe that the media should ask questions or expect accurate responses re. injuries. So either he offers nothing or he offers misinformation.

Yup, just like when Huby had the foot injury and Sutter gave the #### answer

Jiri is 100%. Some people will argue that Sutter doesn’t flat out lie or whatever. But we can’t read his mind and it’s obvious his media responses aren’t accurate.

So just ignore them IMO. In good times and bad.

I totally get misdirection for a star player or during playoff time or even a gameday. But Dennis Gilbert?

Doesn't matter who the player is, Sutter won't offer accurate information about injuries.

He's very similar to Bill Belichick in how he interacts with media. In his mind any information about a player may benefit the opponents so he's deliberately vague, obtuse, or misleading.

I have to laugh every time any reporter asking the same questions for every coach and every player. Did they expect any answers to be any different? LOL

Wonder why Meloche hasn't got a look yet ? read he plays a physical style game. One aspect I think this team lacks on the back end since Gudbranson left, or at least there is less of it now. Not saying Meloche is that guy, but our back end could use a bit more of hard physical presence besides big Z.

Gilbert sounds far more dignified as a name instead of Gilbert.
