Coyotes host the Flames after overtime win
LAST 10 GAMES: Coyotes: 5-1-4, averaging 3.1 goals, 5.2 assists, 4.4 penalties and 11.6 penalty minutes while giving up 2.7 goals per game.
Flames: 4-4-2, averaging 3.3 goals, 5.9 assists, 4.5 penalties and 13.1 penalty minutes while giving up 3.3 goals per game.
Coyotes Game 58 Preview: The Coyotes host the Flames in second game of a 4-game homestand
The Arizona Coyotes continued their point streak last Sunday, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 in overtime. The Coyotes have points in their previous nine games, thanks partly to some solid starts and a comeback spirit.
Sunday’s game didn’t require a comeback but featured a strong start. The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Travis Boyd and Nick Schmaltz. Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep up the offense, and their next goal came when Barrett Hayton scored in overtime to give the Coyotes the win.

Can't wtch this "team" anymore. They are totally re-active and have no style or play of their own. THey play what ever the OTHER guys bring and never seem to set the tone. They lost to Chicago, 2x to Detroit and then to Philly. Minnesota is doing better and don't seem to be doing this win lose 2 step.
Next year.

Got to win this one with tough games against the Golden Knights and Avalanche next. Flames will probably lose tonight and then win both of those.

They better feel the the urgency now that Wild has some ground on them. Now would be a very good time to kickstart the push if they want to make it to the post season. I will cheer on them as long as they hang on in the picture. GFG!!

I mean, is it really a trap game when we all see it coming?

You can argue it's a trap game for a Coyotes team that badly needs to get on a losing streak to get into the top 3 draft odds. Try as they may to lose, the Flames just may give this one to them.

Play Markstrom and Lucic to eliminate the illusion of making the playoff. Looking forward to 2024. Go Flames !

That Philly game coupled with the Wild winning three in a row pretty much puts this at the tipping point I would think.
Wild on a 96 point pace now.
Calgary needs to go 16-7-2 (.680) to get to 97.
Flames with 5 games before the deadline
at Yotes
at Knights
at Avalanche
Boston
Toronto
Ten possible points and they basically need 7 of them to be on pace. Feels like a three or four point schedule to me.
Hopefully they don't jump the gun on the deadline (they haven't yet), because they feel there's no point by Sunday morning.

The nice weather should put the team in the mood for golf. I expect 3 straight losses with the secret tank commander leading the way (Markstrom)

Not exactly a game that inspires me to take time out of my not that busy evening schedule to watch.
Arizona is a forever bad team, its a disgrace to the NHL that its allowed to exist and should have been relegated to some minor minor pro team somewhere below the Mason Dixon line years ago.
The Flames are just uninspiring. For all its talent, they don't exactly blow us away with the level of motivation, and work ethic.

Almost bye bye time for the old Flames. They are trending towards 91 points. 95 gets you in I think this year. The typical inconsistent results aren’t going to get that done.
It’s up to them. I wouldn’t pick anything up at the deadline. I don’t think it would make a difference with this group. They have to figure it out as a group.

That Knights game is as close to a guaranteed loss as you get. They still haven't won in what has become their new Anaheim.

Gut feeling, but I just get the sense the team is about to go on a bit of a tear here.
