Default Canucks 4 Flames 3 (SO)

Canucks 4 Flames 3 (SO)

This one won't be a Picasso, was in a box last night which always take away from seeing what's actually going on.

- Flames spot the Canucks two quick goals
- Come roaring back to take the lead
- Lose third straight game in extra time.

I don't like seeing confirmation that the top line was under water, even though I knew it was the case from watching. Huberdeau was a complete mess (mainly at 5-5), but I wasn't a big fan of his decision making on the PP either.

The fact the rest of the team was much better is pretty concerning as the Flames can't do what they want to systematically without a top line that can carry more of the load consistently.

On the plus side - it looks like the Flames really have something with ZoHo. I had to do a double take when I saw his minutes were as low as they were. I could have sworn he played 15min as he was very impactful every time he was on the ice.

I was at the game and these two metrics don't meet the eye test for me.

Huberdeau – Lindholm – Toffoli 55.2%
Dube – Kadri – Mangiapane 46.8%

I thought HLT were almost invisible all night. DKM seemed to have lots of jam, skated well, produced good chances.

Metrics for the third line were spot on. Ruzicka and Backlund pair well. Ruzicka seems to have a great nose for where the puck will go and he finds the right spots.

Is it just me or does Backlund always score against Vancouver?

That section is coming into the game, the section at the end is the game itself.

Toffoli and Huberdeau were in the 30s ... Lindholm slightly better.

Kadri line around 55% (average)

What’s troubling is that the team was absolutely rolling g after giving up the early lead. Shots were 17-2 I believe for a stretch once they took the lead. And then not much zone time after that at all.

Since advanced stats are usually (always?) more accurate with larger sample sizes, it's my belief that game samples of these stats will often not fit the subjective eye test of fans but because the sample size was small, any individual watcher's eye test may have been a more accurate depiction of the game.
