Default How much do you get delivered?

Back in the day, delivery was limited to newspapers in the morning, pizza and chinese food at night, and maybe the occasional parcel from Canada Post.

Fast forward to today -- I was listening to the radio recently and there was an ad for 7-11. It talked about all they stuff you could buy (like grocery staples), and how you can even get it delivered. 7-11!

Don't get me wrong -- I'm sure there are people who for one reason or another are happy to use those kinds of services. Skip the dishes, uber eats, etc are also pretty common it seems; you can also get your groceries delivered as well (either from a grocery store or through those meal delivery services).

So I'm curious -- how often do you have goods delivered to you? And is the convenience worth it, especially if it saves time and means you don't need to spend money on gas, or perhaps even a car?

I suppose you could also include Amazon and other online purchases -- we don't use delivery services very often, but we do order off Amazon quite a bit (versus going to the mall or other stores)...

I also recently ventured into delivered groceries for the first time. What a feeling.

Although it’s best for a small amount of non-produce things.

But overall, yeah probably too much delivered. Even minor things from Amazon I could probably find in the city, but if I can order it (or multiple things), and not waste an hour+ of my time that might be worth it.

it was incredibly convenient and incredibly creepy when I first used our Wegmans grocery store app for delivery. Logging in with the loyalty account we use at the store, it had all my frequent items ordered and ready to pick. Prices are jacked a bit, but still worth it for not spending an hour out of a busy day with work and getting kids to and from everything.

I don't know what it's like in Calgary, but I regularly get my order within 30 minutes of ordering from a store that is a 12 min drive. I couldn't go to the store, shop, check out and get home that quickly. The shoppers have got a lot better at picking out produce too, like they are competitive about picking the best produce. They'll text me that something all looks like crap and asking if I want something else, or ask me if I want yellow or green bananas.

We'll still go to the store when we have time, but on busy days, it's amazing! It's actually cut down almost to zero delivery from restaurants which was usually our go to on busy days.

I can't friggin' decide what I want unless I'm wandering the aisles for awhile to get ideas. I'm not the shopping list type of guy so I could never shop online for delivery.

Too much. Like half of my Friday morning is breaking down delivery boxes for recycling pick up. It's stupid at this point.

Seeing the cost of delivery is more than enough motivation to get off my ass and do it myself lol

Shopping in person is for the criminal and the mad. I get groceries delivered, have two or three deliveries every week from Amazon for miscellaneous things, and when I moved to my new place last year, I ordered furniture online too. On infrequent occasions I'll get food delivered as well.

I do sometimes go out at lunch somewhere if I'm at work. Otherwise, the less human contact, the better.

Yup. Tuesday night is box breakdown night, and it’s getting embarrassing. Doesn’t help that Amazon puts little items in huge boxes, but the quantity is all on us.

I buy a lot of stuff online and mostly from Amazon. Much more convenient that driving to Calgary or any big box retailer in Okotoks.

4-5 packages a month maybe.

I've don't think I've ever ordered food through Uber, Skip, etc., just not my thing. But I did send fancy donuts through one of the delivery apps to someone's house for their birthday.

Regarding groceries, I did an online Costco order a few months ago and it was game-changing. But I still prefer to go to the grocery store a couple times a week and grab a few things as needed.

I order next to nothing online. I like to try things on before I buy them. Or actually look at something, see how it feels and looks before I get it. Groceries are something that I would really never get delivered. I enjoy grocery shopping. But i basically have everything I need within a few block radius. If I had to drive to get basic things I could see the utility. Except groceries.

Mail and occasional packages. That's it.

I have never used Skip the Dishes or Uber Eats. I'm amazed at how many people do use those services. Seems like a big waste of money.

One time I had movie theatre popcorn skip the dishes’d to my house.

My family (rightfully) roasted me for it.

I am kinda getting fat now too. But I am not sure if it’s a direct correlation to the one incident and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. So. So. So delicious.

I never use the food delivery apps but admittedly I'm an Amazon junkie for just about everything else, only time I have been to a mall in 3 years is for footwear.

Almost nothing. I still like going out and seeing what's what before I buy it

Haha we get movie theatre popcorn delivered probably once a month when the kids go down.

We also get most of our groceries delivered. The produce is hit or miss but they'll refund you for the cost if it's past its date. I just can't be bothered to spend 2 hours walking around a grocery store every week.

I also get a lot of household items from Amazon or anything where quality isn't that important. Most other things that I do shop for, I order for pickup. I even order my jeans online now (revtown).

I weep for everyone in a household whose food is chosen for them by someone who doesn't care.
Hopefully someday you will be loved the way you deserve.
