Hah, fun idea.
We had bubble lights on the tree, which I loved. Like, a bulb would heat up a vertical vial of red liquid that would boil. Wonder if you can find those...super 80s.

Garland (is that the right term?) made of popcorn. You string it together with a needle and thread. Also made it from red and green strips of construction paper cut into strips and made into a chain - glued the ends of the paper together to hold them.

As recently as about 35-40 years ago, my grandma would put real candles on the Christmas tree. I don't know where she found them, but she had these candle holders meant to attach to Christmas trees. I remember she'd go around lighting them on Christmas day and my grandpa would blow them all out as soon as she left the room!

You'll need a string/line on the wall or mantel for the Christmas cards you receive.

Snow skirt, the train that goes around the tree, spray snow, hot cocoa with candy cane stirrer/ridiculously large holiday themed mug, Christmas stocking on the tree and not mantle, rock hard ginger bread house, icicle lights, trees without lights because that one stupid light bulb burnt out, clove oranges?
TV playing with Mr. Bean sending the army to defend baby Jesus.

Do you mean everyone doesn’t still do all of these things.
Aside from stockings on the tree whoever did that?

I don't see most people with stuff like this anymore as new tech has replaced it or it's considered gaudy. Especially the train and icicle lights.
Stockings on the tree I seem to recall were common because not everyone had a fireplace.
And presents under the tree... the amount of people who basically say they buy their own presents rather than receive stuff from others is pretty high. Most "Christmas presents" are opened well in advance of Christmas now.

you need to find an old GT snow racer - throw a bow on it and put it under the tree!

Bonus points if the same ones have been on every tree since 1996.

Go really vintage. Snow up to the roof, candles in the tree, One of your children suffering from consumption, wolves growling at the door.
You look at your lovely wife and give her a bar of soap so she can have her once a year bath. She happily gives you a tin of chewing tobacco and asbestos, and a can of rended grizzly bear fat for you beard.

Pretty sure I could find two of these at my mom’s house if I went searching. I remember them getting very very hot, so had to have been quite the fire hazard!

I grew up with the large bulb light strings and my Mom had these tin metal reflectors that went on the bulb base before you screwed the bulb in. They were in shapes like stars and flowers, etc. and since those old large bulbs got so hot, the tin reflectors got even hotter. Talk about a fire hazard on a dry Christmas tree. It’s amazing nothing ever happened. It did look really pretty though. I always managed to burn myself at some point decorating the tree as well.

Not a decoration but I remember the Sears Wishbook. I studied that thing for hours when making my Christmas list as a kid
